A friend thinks he saw a Transam truck going thru “mash road” in Luton

He said it was a all black DAF with a red chassis and was a left hander and a black trailer
He said he was gonna get a pic time he got his phone out it had gone…

Any ideas where it’s going or coming from as he after a pic of the Famous Transam trucking truck

Cheers

Gordon (G.H) Lucking ran trucks on theatre work going to the early 70s and possibly earlier.

I have no photos but being a local firm I remember seeing plenty of his trucks, mostly 21/23/2500 DAFs pulling single axle step frame trailers similar in construction to removals kit. They were pale blue and the trailers had “theatrical removers” down the side. Having worked with a couple of his ex drivers it sounds like they did a lot of film work and went all over.

The company was finally wound up in the mid 90s and IIRC for the last couple of years it was more of a general haulier doing a lot of European groupage. At this time the trucks were still painted the same but written GHL European.

I to thought that the Lucking trucks seen about today were a continuation of that company but after reading an article in one the mags a few years ago it would seem it is purely a coincidence and the two companies have no link.

What make are the new trailers? Look like a Cartwright.

Met a guy pulling one in EST colours at a studio, had the tail lift on it. Nice bit of kit and very usefull at some venues I bet

I got told Transam trucking and EST was doing Nottinghill carnival on a couple of floats

Would not surprise me, they got heavily involved with the Olympics, and I have noticed more and more running around on events and corporate.
