I think it’s all been said really, but that never stops me so…
I think that your reason for wanting to come to Canada is wrong, well it is if you put it correctly in the first place, escaping a recession is understandable, who wants to be skint, but moving to the other side of the world is a huge commitment, doing it to enjoy a better life is a good reason, but it has to be the whole package, not just about how much you put in the bank and comparing the wages back into pound notes is pointless, you can’t spend pound notes over here.
Some have said that you can come over on your wife’s ticket, I can’t say for sure (my wife is a professional shopper ) but if that is the case then you will get an open work permit through her nomination if you go down the PNP (Provincial Nominee Programme) route, that will allow you to do whatever you want, if that is the case then Alberta or Saskatchewan will be your best bet, there’s plenty of oilfield work and it pays very well.
However, I noted that your wife is reluctant to make the move, so unless she has a change of heart it looks like you’re doomed
Thanks all for the replies.
BTD, I’ve been branded a ‘company guy’ since starting at my current employment, all because from day one I just got my head down and DID THE JOB WITHOUT WHINGING! I only complain IF it’s neccessary. The others would complain just for you breathing next to them!
So many times I too have been asked to do something another driver couldn’t (like ‘rescue a digger’) when all it would’ve took is a little ‘thinking’ (using the boom to push, and not just trying to track/drive it out of whatever!)
NMM, It’s been bugging me for years (since I was 20) about wanting to emigrate, don’t know what it was (maybe I couldn’t see for looking that this country was already doomed then). But times change, (married / kids) so it went quiet. Then the feelings started again…
Anyway, this time after you’s all have painted a better picture for me, I think I will wait, get my C+E and the experience, THEN take it from there…
Brentanna, Er, I don’t drink or smoke or like football, or, er… get the picture?
