You sound as though you have been around tippers and quarries in Derbyshire for some time, Dan. Do you remember J H Allen and Sons from Hilton?
Worked for them from 1968 to about '72 at Mercaston, Mugginton, Dene and Middle Peak, to name just a few. In a previous post on this thread, you mentioned Mellors - was that one of the many Mellors from around Cheadle who worked out of Croxden, by any chance?

Brisbane’s aptly named Quarry lorry park at Knighton, Radnorshire where most of their tippers were based.
No, totally different lot - we had Traders and then posh new Dodges! - although we did finish up with three Russian Belaz things on the track at Mercaston!
Of course - I remember Dave Mellor now - better stock-car driver than haulier!

John Cross Sed/Atki being loaded at Nash Quarry near Presteigne which was reopened to supply stone and fill for the new Leominster bypass in the 1980’s. The loading shovel driver is my next door neighbour Geoff Lewis.
Fantastic stuff Dave, Keep them coming, Regards Larry.
A very nice mixture too, Regards Larry.

People slagged those 3000s off but they were good site lorries; Good off road, low tare weight, good visibility and nice and basic inside (not much trim to fall off!)
I think john cope from sheen ran that foden out of ivonbrook quarry for quite a while
