Specially built trailer for the delivery of burnt sand for roof tiles for Marley. Had to load under a low hopper and tip in a high bin, hence the scow end.Great pics

Yes, same trailer. The bare chassis was purchased new in 1973 from Merriworth and my Father then built the sub-frame and body. It was refurbished when the 4000 series was purchased in 1988 and ran for a further 3 years.
Nice to see one of Folleys tippers, their pit is at Sonning Eye and probably run by Hansons or somebody nowadays?

Those Cravens Tasktip bodies were some of the best we had at Tilcon. The rear sub-chassis did crack at the welds though and we stick welded them with alloy rods at every test by preheating the area with an oxy-acetylene torch, (no mig back then) but it didn’t penetrate enough. Some steel flitch plates bolted through worked though, the main bodies gave no problems at all apart from the normal floor wear/cracking which asphalt carrying bodies suffered from anyway.
