Three wipers

These certainly had 'em! Robert

You can add Bedford TM and Volvo F10 and Scania 110 to the list.It was always the logical solution to maximising the swept area on a wide truck screen.Although the double linkage system, which I was familiar with on specialist types, which kept the wipers vertical across a small arc and thereby reduced un swept area even more, doesn’t seem to have been applied much if at all in road types.

Spanish Dodge, Ford Transcontinental and Man also had three wipers.

Dennison is the only one I can think that had the double linkage system.    -

If I remember correctly there was a particular name for that double-linkage system- named after the bloke who invented/developed it? It was- and may still be, for all I know- used a lot on coaches with their acres of windscreen. They worked really well except that all those joints tended to wear out fairly quickly and in most cases were a pain in the a*se to replace.

By ‘double linkage’ do you mean like the D Series Ford? Not my pic by the way.

Pete.

That’s progress.Rather than fix them just use 1940’s Morris Minor tech instead. :open_mouth:

Blimey that’s about as primitive as it gets.

Meanwhile the proper job.

That’s the one, Pete. Although, compared to most of the others, the Ford one was cr*p!

Not only trucks had/have 3 wipers: some “E-Type” Jags had them too. Same reason, a wide low screen.

I think the D type linkage is known as the pantograph type. I used to drive one and did not find the wipers too bad.
