A couple of months back i tried to order a brand new flat extender and was told it was at least an 8 month wait due to high demand, i know WS have a 100 on order but 8 months is a bit of a stretch

hi all. noob questions here if i may.
so. i found a guy saying he is a manager in a company called UK Freight or so…
he said he used to be O/D. but he earns alot now as a TM.
talking with him i told that i am thinking of becoming O/D. he said he might be able to help with a nice contract.
so it is like this. container work. birmingham to middlesbrough. trunking like trailer swap. he said pay is like £650 (didnt said with or without vat). is that a good price (360 miles return means at a average 10mpg £200 in fuel) . and i can bring a driver to work for me so can be done like 2 trips every day. payment would be 60 days term. the thing is the contract (he said) is on a year basics. guarateed 5 days a week (black on white on paper). but it also sais that if i do not do the job (broken truck… or otger issues) i get to pay them back a ■■■■ load of money as fines. now i did some calculations bout it and it ended up (with a leased truck. and an avarage of 10 mpg service costs etc) and it looks its a good deal. if my calculations are correct it will be a profit of bout 4000 a month (after the other guys salary fuel etc). but i pretty much doubt my calculations are correct lol.
the thing is i asked other o/d and most of them said thats a good deal. easy job just trailer swap long haul should be low mpg in any truck this run. as for start money shouldnt be a problem. my bank said i can easy get 30 to 50k loan on my ltd (me being an ltd driver with an income of bout 35 to 40k a year) i rekon a 35k should be enough to cover 2 months till the payment term .
but… these calculation are never exact. any opinions bout this?
and second thing i found is the maritime company. the used truck they sell they are saying it is an option if u buy a truck from them to start working with them as a premium facility that u buy the truck. has anyone heard of this? or tried it? or know anything bout it?
thank you very much all
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is …
£1.80 per mile on drop and swop seems hell of a rate.
First job if it’s true and correct is a dream
Maritime would be your worst Nightmare !!!
Look for the hundreds of previous Maritime posts.
