Dave the Renegade:
Hi Dennis,
Haven’t a clue to the answers to your conundrum, but they were phased out in 1978,but I don’t know anymore useless imformation other than that.
Cheers Dave.

H.W. Dines from Merton NR Bicester had some S Reg ones so it could of been one of those

Hiya Dave/Kennum yea I don’t think we’ll ever have the definetive answer to the very last one built but some of the “S” reg ones must be contenders but I think some of those old Brummie/Black Country hauliers had a new Big J or two parked up brand new for a few years!!We’ll never know which was the last one built!!and Leyland motors wouldn’t have helped matters as Guy’s were the poor relation! Cheers Dennis

I had one of the HW Dines S reg big J’s, I have put pics on the Oxford thread they were 2, both with locomotors sleepers 180 with aec gearbox, but the sure weren’t the last as my Brother worked for Cartansport BRS and the had a batch of over 20 on T reg, a picture of one on bubbs thread somewhere, so we are still no nearer to finding out Berwick
