These pictures are incredible, and in places horrific. I never took much notice of the news in those days having just discovered beer and drinking I followed the Gulf War with interest a couple of years before but as that never affected me saw no reason to trouble myself with this little skirmish.
Hi All, found a couple of pictures in my sent folder, Unfortunatly Allan Peacock died a few years ago, RIP. I first met Allan when we joined together in Jan 93, on the Seddons. He went on to work with most people reading this from the BCT & was one of the guys who came to iraq with us. in the picture with Barnsy holding his helmet, Allan is bending over ( now for those reading this in Brail, dont get excited) talking to children in a Stetson.
At Allans funeral Geoff Williams said that the first 2 rows were taken up with Allans ex wives I think he was on his 6th wife.
And he was sure he heard that load laugh that Allan was noticible for.
Will post a group picture on “pull up a sand bag” of the Nomads.
Cheers JJ
Good thread, I spent a 6 month tour at Kupres. Loaded tank transporters fitted with snowchains used to slide back down the hill up to the tunnel. The temperature regularly hit well past -30c
