A driver of a 26 tonne truck should have some idea of how close he can get to the edge before it all goes wrong.
You can’t expect councils to be responsible for every country lane unless you’re willing to pay for it.

You should see the A15, especially between the M180 and caernby corner. Even though it’s quite narrow in parts, it’s a popular route with truckers. There are parts where the edge of the tarmac is starting to break away. The local authority dealt with it by putting a speed limit in place!

Looks to be a Glendinning motor by the paint on the door. ejwglendinning.co.uk/

He’s obviously been sampling his product.

Poor sod. That was always a problem around our quarry on the road in from Fenny Bentley towards Grange Mill! Punchy Dan and Rod will know the road well enough!! Not so bad empty but loaded it was pretty scary at times as the camber suddenly tipped you towards the crumbling edge, some non local drivers bringing bitumen etc in refused to travel along it. Sometimes you encountered a stranger travelling down towards the centre of the road, you sometimes had to stop then which for a tipper driver was not a good thing! Luckily most of the loaded traffic from us,(Tilcon) Longcliffe and Ben Bennetts was on the outward Ashbourne bound side with a steep bank supporting the road, just the overhanging trees to avoid unless you wanted a broken mirror. Only a couple of trucks actually went over the edge in my time there though. Eventually the road slipped completely and was closed for a year or two until the council decided to repair it, it has now been widened and the bends eased and is like a Motorway compared to how it was back in my day.

Pete.

Where is it “obvious” some tube forced him over too far?

This will doubtless be the same “tube” who caused an Asda artic to plough into standing traffic without making any effort to avoid the colllsion. IIRC Heisenberrrrg reckoned said Asda driver was “probably not at fault” when the in-cab camera apparently showed him taking no action to avoid a collision even though the illuminated overhead signs warning him that there was a queue ahead (and he had admitted in court the careless driving offence)…

Yes of course…you’re right…he just chose to drive off the road…

The days must just fly by for you !

Ignore Heisenberrg,he’s a ■■■■.

What a brilliant retort !

I stand corrected…the days obviously drag by for you !

It’s extremely unlikely that it is the same tube…as you well know…

So why write it ?..Pay attention !

Heisenberrg:
What …you mean something like road tax ?

Doesn’t matter which tax, if you expect councils to maintain every single country lane to a high standard then your taxes will go through the roof.
Drivers have to be responsible for what they’re doing, and in this case he was obviously too far over, in fact the first photo looks like he may have had the outer wheels off the tarmac.

But who pays those taxes?..The employers of course…the cost of which is reflected in transport costs…which in turn are met by the consumer…who vote for the governing party…who might wake up one day and realise that transport is the beginning and end of any modern economy…the Romans realised this and their roads still exist today…they didn’t maintain them and look what happened.

He might have driven too close to the edge after misjudging how close he was
He might have swerved to avoid a pothole
He might have been changing a cd/ making a brew
He might have been adjusting his sat nav
He might have got his nearside wheel caught in a hole that pulled him over.
Maybe his load shifted

No where in that article does it mention another vehicle so its not “obvious” some tube forced him over. There are countless ways that ended up with him on his roof (see above).
“Possibly” would be a better choice of word than “obviously”.

Besides, what kind of self respecting tipper driver lets anyone push him over? Isnt tipper driving 101 “You decide what parts of the road you want and how fast you go and everyone else fits round you”?

Never tipped a load that way by the way.
