Alan is a good friend of mine and a few other members on TNUK. He is semi-retired now, doesn’t do the calenders any-more Larry.
Cheers Dave.

Give Harry one of the Atkis if it’s got a 150 Gardner fitted. He can’t be doing with too much power at his age!

Hiya,
Great stuff I love the paintings, my daughter brings me a calendar put out by
Teward Bros Larry will know them! every year and on each monthly page is a
different painting, There’s some marvellous pictures My plan was to frame
them but I got a big no no from the Missus, I’m not having pictures of bloody
wagons all over the house says she, I’m told off for giving the “big lads” the
lights at road junctions or when climbing, you’re not even a wagon driver any
more He’ll think you’re wrong in the head is usually how the conversation goes.
thanks harry, long retired.

Hiya,
Thanks for that ROF three spanners and the first layby you can bet you’re bottom
dollar the 150 would come out of it’s ■■■■■■■■■■■■ running a darned sight better
than when I went in, and I could do it in a “45”.
thanks harry, long retired.

Hiya,
Would the eight legged Guy of Harry Kelly’s have a 680 Leyland engine in her I do
remember seeing that one knocking about and it seemed to motor on a bit, but I
wonder did they have several or was that one a one-off, I always thought it was
designed for pulling a trailer it did look the part.
thanks harry, long retired.

Fantastic paintings by AS. However, the Windrush lorry park was never that smooth!

Hiya “H”,as far as I understood GUY Invincibles and Light “8”'s never used the Leyland engines and defo never the 680,the Invincibles used the Gardner 150 and possibly the ■■■■■■■ 180 and the Light 8’s used the AEC 7:7 and the Gardner 6 LW.The lighter Guy’s did use the smaller Leyland 350/375 engines as well as the Meadows motor.I will obviously stand corrected but that is what I understood mate. Cheers Dennis.

i think alan spillet used a little artistic license with his paintings . i have a photo of james ross’s erf fish lorry and there is nowhere round there that looks like the painting , and when i asked mrs ross where it was done she showed me and the background was completely different . having said that he aways captured the mood of the places to a tee . dave
