well still waiting for the person im having the B series from to have time to deliver it BUT until then i managed to save another wagon only a baby this time but not a lot wrong with it so hopefully wont to to long before she is back on the road wish me luck and any advice on the D series more then welcome ( its the 6 cylinder version )
This made me smile this was the first type of truck I drove. I lied that Id driven a truck before and was given a job driving one of these with a freezer box on the back Then I was given a Bedford TK which I loved till I wrote it off in the centre of Norwich oops.
I too drove D series and TKs when they were current. i enjoyed both. The D was more practical but I preferred driving the TKs, although that was not , I recall, the popular feeling at the time.
First co I worked for had TKs and D seies Fords, I preferred to drive the TK, but the Ford was better to sleep in, in the days when you dossed down in a day cab.
The TK had a ‘truck’ feel to it, the Ford was like a big pick up, but maybe that was just me.
Here is a pic of same motor at the auction in 2010, why would you let a motor go like that? Cheer’s Pete

that mixer looks like it could possibly be ex-ECCQ.any info on it please?
This six wheel mixer is in Tytherington Glos. I stopped the car and took this photo from the country lane. I had to move the car quick because it blocked the road. I will walk up there and see if there is a reg no on it.

A lot of classic cars went a few years ago because of the then ‘Scrappage Scheme’ when buying a brand new car.
There was an item in the paper about a classic Sunbeam Alpine, it had been part ex.d in said scheme, and the system did not allow anyone to buy it, so it was crushed…absolute madness.
This ERF was on Balthane Industrial Estate in Isle of Man a few years ago.
I tried to find out a bit more about it as it has a UK Liverpool plate but drew a blank.

According to my notes P & O Roadtanks had a batch of Erf 's with MKA registration numbers , I can’t be 100 % sure but would suggest it may have been in service with P & O as( J947 & J957 MKA were .)

They look in good condition Dennis , would it be more about the bhp outputs that put them to grass , didnt a minimum bhp per ton restriction come in at some point in the 70s which would make them obsolete at 32 tons ?
