Greetings,All. The UCC Scanias we were issued with were “G” and “H” reg. if it’s any help. I will add that while we were up the road with Guy Invincibles,Gardner 150’s,we were passed quite often by J+H Haulage who had Scanias so there could have been some before the “G” reg. Regards,900X20.
Not the first Scanias i saw, but my dad had the first 113 in Scotland, E577ADS, even had a bodged up 112 air kit patched and cut to fit the new lower air intake. And late one night heading for southampton we passed the only two H reg streamliners i ever saw, white 143 topline streamline pushers pulling benneton F1 trailers.
heres some pics of the UCC trucks borrowed from the internet ,my dad ended up with these trucks and a few more and they carried on working for UCC and GEORGE DAVIES both part of the vestry group
before UCC sold them they were cut down to 4x2 they kept one as a 6x4 and built it into a wrecker which was normally based at RUGBY depot
heres a couple more borrowed from the net / hope i don,t offend anyone if they are there pics
MAT Transport had a few early daycab 110’s I remember seeing them in Italy 70’s and the 80’s
good stuff pat, a mate of mine used to work for MAT john morris then he went to Geoff Gilbert.
According to Mr. Dyer’s book, JMG848G is the first one. However, we know better on here, judging by the earlier posts of Eurohaul F-plated left-hookers. Maybe that one was the first RHD, “official” import.
The first scania I saw was a 110 belonging to Western Transport which im sure was an H reg 69/70 and driven by Bob Lewis.
Dont know if Bubbs might have a pic of it ?
As a young lad working at Beresford Transport in the mid-60s I recall sitting in a Scania Vabis that I think was on trial from Entress Transport of South Wales. I don’t remember much about it apart from the interior which seemed to be spacious compared to the ERFs and Fodens that comprised the bulk of Beresford’s fleet. The colour of the Scania Vabis may have been orange - but memory plays tricks (just a few).
Some early 110s with little letters
MAT had some of the first Scanias in the UK but they were no older than F reg. My first Scania with MAT was EYH 102J. The trouble with MAT was that they kept the motors too long and by the time they had finished with them they were falling apart. I remeber one of the 110s I drove you had to put a plastic bag on your right foot when it rained to keep your foot dry. Some of the gear selecter forks were worn on the splitter boxes and you had a choice of either reverse (no brainer) or crawler. I remeber this bloke giving me a push out of Bridon wire with an old Atki because I could’nt set off at the lights at the top of the hill.

Hi,heres my 1st attempt at posting some stuff with my new PC,I hope they come out ok
Logger…Western Transport as far as I’m aware had 2 “H” reg 110s…WHW901H and XAE666H,sorry no pics though. I reckon Bob Lewis had 666H as he had “The Devil Rides” on a sunstrip on his Scanias
Cheers Bubbs,
There were 2 pics but only 1 came out…it took me an hour just to get this on
We are all sure you will get there in the end Bubbs! Good luck with the new scanner and may it provide us all with as much enjoyment as this one has well done mate.Bill

Evening Gentlemen, Bubbs, wow, how do you do it? One of Phillip Hemmings, pre delivery from Derry Street, and delivery picture of Round
s, what a collection you have! mrken, your fleet photographs are superb, what a lovely record to have, and what cracking motors! You really ran a distinctive fleet. London 110s that I used to see regularly were Double D, dark blue, from Milwall I think. Never ever saw them loaded, always empty! Round
s 76 really caused a stir in the Black Country, all that power. Another one that was really smart was Jerry Skeltons, Stokes and Downing, from Cradley Heath, maroon and red, with gold leaf, (of course). They had a smashing pigeon loft in their yard. Talking to my pal yesterday, his uncle ran B&W in Derry Street, he is going to see if he can find any sales records out, they would make interesting reading. Some of B&Ws first 110
s went to Cartwrights in Wolverhampton. I know that their 110 Demo ended up in Cyprus, Chris went to buy it, only to find it gone, and one of my 1628s sitting there, still with my livery on it! He wasn
t best pleased, but I had just sold some for export. C`est la vie. Cheerio for now.
Saviem Thanks and Mark glad your back Lb you have some great 140/1 pics you really do. D transport were at Milwall and ran some nice Beavers 2 stroke Commers Remember once going there with my Dad and them lined up on sat morning washing down with a 76 couple off 110 daycabs
and a borderer sleeper later fleet they run 111 sleepers with granning axels and 400 sed atkis any pictures of those would be great or Bloomfields
worked there when I left school had 2 LB76 4 110s 1 111 and a 81 a 1924 and 2 TMs V6 all day cabs and a TK avery light grey with french blue wings
and a wierd bumber in grey and blue like a sort of danish style with like lines across and round the spot light holes LB76 will know what i mean
what a great thread.
Jimmy Alford had some early preowned Scania 110’s

Geoff Stokes drove that motor RDA 106F, It’s still about on the show circuit owned by and in the colours of Birds Transport.
The 110 in Ainacs picture has me thinking, I know the Wolverhampton reg.number but can’t remember who owned it from new ( J. Foulkes ■■)
