Hi C.Gill
I couldn’t say how many Cargo artics there were. I know when I started (1990),most depot’s had them. I was lucky enough not to have had one (I started with an F reg. FL10). BTW, good picture of a Cargo artic pulling into Burton-on-Trent depot with a Beer-Keg trailer (they are narrower at the roof than on the load deck).
Geoffo…

Here’s one ■■■■■■■■ and Stobarts arent on their own at clobbering this bridge. Its on the A610 at Sawmills he would be heading east to west away from the A38 towards the A6 at Ambergate its not in use anymore as a railway bridge but seems to be left in place to protect the main line bridge half a mile further on and it is signed up.This is a cutting from the Derby Evening Telegraph I think its around ten years ago.The driver was from Pontefract and he was taken to hospital. Regards Mike

Geoffo:
C.Gill, Can’t remember If the ERF belonged to Alan Glendinning, as there was a couple of subbies with the same surname. The other ‘Glendinning’ drove a Scania 143 around the same time…Mr Mulholland first truck was a Daf 95 Wagon & drag (Euro-drag) which he didn’t drive himself, as was employed by Stobarts to work in the Head office in Kingstown. The truck was driven by Eddie Stobbart(yes, with double B).

Nianiamh, I do remember the FL6 pods. That Daf 85 looks awfull, must have been a ■■■■■ of a truck. Did you ever bump into a Stobbie driver called Mark who had one of the white Dafs?? He was based In Warrington, but ran out of Gresford.

Nearly correct it was driven by willie stobbart…until he had a bad accident southbound on the A1 near the l/derry cafe, willie then decieded to buyhis own truck an put it on the euro fleet.

Positive. Blue stickers on NSR and arse end. Mission complete, spotters spotted, so I’ll now leave you all in peace.

Hi C.Gill.

Yes the photo Is taken In Carlisle In May '94…
The other picture of FL10’s(between the Belgian Volvo & the Cargo drag) looks to have been taken In '95 at Graham commercial’s in Kingstown.
The Ford Cargo’s were cheap & cheerfull & very basic, although they were the backbone of Stobart’s growth plans & how they were able to go from 50 trucks to what seem’s like 200 trucks overnight…
Neville Jackson drove the Renault Magnum Pictured (M1 ESL).
The Belgian depots (Temse & Lokeren) opened late '97/ early '98. Stobarts called me & asked me to go back, but I was working for another large firm at that time so never did(Norbert Dentressangle  ). The Belgian trucks did a lot of work down to Croatia,Bosnia,Serbia after the war for the British armed forces, so many of the drivers were British.Temse office closed down in the early 2000’s(It was mean’t to be their European head-office,but never quite worked out).

JIMBO47, You’re right regarding William Stobbart & the Drag he drove for Mulholland, but there was also an ‘Eddie Stobbart’ that also ran out of Carlisle. Always got them mixed up.
