20 mins powernap, or start plucking the hairs out of yer nose
Or just doubleman
Big Joe:
or start plucking the hairs out of yer nose
sick, just sick
10 minute power nap does it for me. Mind you, after 11 years on nights Iāve managed to adjust my body clock.
I remember once about 1988 I was driving a bus through the middle of Liverpool and got from London Road to the old Gyratory and cant remember driving down Lime Street or any junctions or traffic lights and that was only minutes before, it freaked me out.
I signed off straight away and went to the doctors, he couldnāt find anything wrong and sent me to hospital the dide tests and signed me off for two weeks, I took a week off holiday, but never heard anything from them again
I have been tired since but nothing like that, I must have been on auto pilot
I was 23 years old and burning the candle both ends though
Iāve always been strict when it comes to feeling drowsy, nearest services/lay-by for minimum of an hours kip. No matter what you do to stay awake, eventually you will succumb, when that happens I prefer to be on my bunk, not on cc sat in the drivers seat.
everyone has their owe way.mind is pull in beside a service. 15 mins at least with the seat back and sleep.(if u get into bed u may forget to get out) get up and get or make a coffee and keep her lit.i dont do red bull and iām 17 years doing it this way.
The tired truckers video is very funny. My Dad was on a coach in Europe and when the passengers were asleep he saw the two coach drivers swap seats when the coach was moving.
I used to think that coke was satans ā ā ā ā ,but that red bull
is a whole new level of revolting, it makes my teeth itch.

Get out and run around the wagon, stop first though tobester!
Have to say this is a good short term cure but failing that, sleep.

What are the ways to combat this?
Opening the cab windows with the heater off for an Artic blast does not work.
Lots of caffeine does not work.
When you have a siesta on the bunk you do not want to sleep but when drive again you start head nodding again.
Always at this time of the year too.Dark mornings/afternoons.
There was an alarm you fit to your ear.
It would go off if your head tilted too much.
It was like an ear piece sold at truckstops.
I used to suffer quite badly with it and was going to go to the docs thinking it was sleep apnea, I used to find that giving someone a call on the phone (legally) and having a chat for 5-10 mins would sort me out, other than that itās amazing what a 15 minute nap can do, or walk around the truck especially in this weather.
tried the red bull and didnt work for me, what did work for me was 2 good old heaped tablespoons of nescafe coffee straight from the jar washed down with coco cola kept me going for days doing that.
Have a nap, fifteen minutes or so is usually enough. Just beware of pulling in, falling asleep in the driverās seat and then waking up with the back of another truck a yard from your windscreen. Iāve done that once and it scared the crap out of me until I realised I was actually parked in a layby with the engine off and the handbrake on. I swear I had the brake pedal on the floor before I woke up.
The other thing that happened to me occasionally when I worked days is that Iād pull in for fifteen minutes and wake up two and a half hours later, with no idea where I was or where I was supposed to be going. I had to look at the notes to work it all out once or twice.

Thanks for the tips.
I once pulled over for a kip and first had a good pick of my nose and a few bodily noises and settled for a 15 minute kipā¦then a passenger appeared from right behind me asking how long we would be waitingā¦I seriously left a dent in the roof of the bus with the fright, THAT woke me up
If that happens in my wagonā¦well
