We’ve just got two new rigids and 1 new Unit with all these new fangled gizmos within the last few months, I’ve got one of the rigids, the looks you get when I’m turning left are either they find it funny or are shocked, mine has the sensors that picks up anything even the kerb the camera is totally useless as it takes ages to display on the monitor and the woman shouting “keep clear this vehicle is turning left” quite annoying when you’re are waiting ages to pull out of a junction and any road users completely ignore it anyway!

Good point.
Any new device or warning will probably have an immediate effect. The voice saying “vehicle turning” will attract attention at first. After weeks or months of hearing the same message, it will be ignored as flashing indicator lights are ignored today.
Familiarity breeds indifference.
