I’ve found a couple of other photos of it in NZ, including one where it’s been modified to have a pair of flat screens, the original having been (inevitably) smashed. Apparently, it lasted several years out there.

I shouldn’t think so: I had one for 19 years and it never worried me. In fact, it had been fitted with seatbelts from new, which was pretty rare back then.
