Even if that petition gets to the first stage of discussion, the guy in charge who makes all the decisions will only listen to advice given by his health and safety advising nutters who will give him an array of scenarios that will never happen in the real world.
So there are two hopes of them continuing to let us stay in the cab (despite being no problems afaik during all the Covid ■■■■■■■■) those being…No and Bob.
You can leave your cab unlocked, deposit your keys, and go back to your cab. Or, as I did, take your door lock key of. They can argue, shout, cry, threaten, or start reciting poetry, but in the end they have a choice of two. They tip you, or they don’t.
If they don’t, they have to state why. That is the moment, where you know if your boss is worth working for. He backs you, and tells the RDC to either tip it, or pay for a re-delivery. Or he doesn’t.
It up to you. If you have any pride, and/or back bone, you stand up for yourself. If you choose to comply, and sit in the holding cell, that is your choice. But stop whining about it. It is entirely in your hands.
I refused to get in the back and tip at a Tesco store last night (a long story) and sat in my cab. I got banned from that store lol. Waiting to get hauled into the office tonight.
Also, at Reading last night, I saw just one driver in the waiting room. Every other driver was in their cab.

Here ended the lesson…
Cheers for the sermon ND.
You’re preaching to the converted,.I already know and have done what you’ve said, never had to ring the boss because I was clever enough not to be caught.
It’s only a very rare occasion I do RDCs,.the odd backload at end of week, but I’m ‘‘whining’’ as you put it because I’m sick of all the injustices and petty crap we have to put up with I order to do this job, the 'official line’s is you don’t sit in your cab,.which imo is bloody stupid, because for every reason given for it by these non job wonkers trying to justify their employment, ,.those scenarios can easily be prevented by a more sensible approach such as suzie locks, but they prefer to show us who’s boss and treat us like children.
Pleased I mostly do farm deliveries, where I don’t even have to wear a hi viz ■■■■ vest,.I can go in my shorts, I can get on the back of my trailer, I can eat and drink on site and all the rest of the bullcrap prevented in other type places…so jo ‘whining’ on that score.

I once delivered to some rdc. God knows who it was. Was given a buzzer pad thing.
Told sit in cab when it flashes and buzzes means paperwork is ready.
Which i thought was a good idea.
As the odd time done RDCs been sat there struggling to stay awake looking for a green light.
With this thing could fall asleep and it would wake you up
I was getting tipped at this place once, then my phone rang and they told me they’d finished.
I believe the stay in cab policy at Tesco is to do with fire safety. Helps them evacuate the site quicker if there is an alarm, no drivers fast asleep in cabs to wake up etc. Also reduces foot traffic in the yard with drivers making less trips to & from the office.
If Tesco believe they have solid H&S argument for keeping drivers in a waiting room, then they are going to stick to it no matter how much kicking & screaming drivers do. I just find it disappointing that absolutely no effort has been made to even improve the waiting facilities for drivers, revamped waiting rooms with comfier seating, invitation to the canteen etc. Just a lazy return to the status quo of early 2020. Lets face it, it was never going to be long until all the “key worker” stuff got forgotten.
I’ll just continue to sneak back off to the cab for as long as I can get away with it.
Done one of my rare visits to Tesco Livingston today expecting to be asked to sit in that crap hole of a waiting room.
Had a cunning plan,.I was going to tell them very loudly so that all the drivers could hear me that…I have Covid,.so do you think this lot will want me to sit beside them (I haven’t btw) …but was pleasantly surprised that there were no dramas,.and you can still return to your cab for a kip…which I did.
Been to Tesco Widnes twice this week and three times last week stayed in my cab every time. The lad behind the counter said stay in your cab or the waiting room your choice.

Asda Rdc in Didcot do this, its brilliant make a brew and food, have a nap.
Its annoying but I did notice when I was delivering to tesco Swindon, the notice said that drivers must only sit in the passenger seat. This rule was universally ignored,so we dont do ourselves any favours sometimes
My old RDC used these trailer hooks operated from the warehouse by their staff.
That contraption looks so flimsy, that if you attempted a drive-off, the whole thing would be ripped out of the wall…
What was ever wrong with pulling out the red button/taking off the red airline - and leaving it at that, with a yard marshall going around making sure red airlines are off, rather than kicking sleeping drivers off their bunks, and sending them back to the waiting room that still exposes one to all kinds of diseases one can get from the “new intake” that one finds in there these days.?

If you’re made to fill out one of those “covid visitor compliance forms” - you could always put on it that you’ve just recently been exposed to all manner of foreign drivers carrying all manner of infectious diseases such as TB, Sepsis, Ebola, etc. which were already there, but get ignored over “Covid” and now “MonkeyPox” scares…
A lot of visiting supply wagons come from farms where over 90% of the workforce are foreign, don’t forget…
Being innoculated against TB goes rather further than getting the clotshot as well, of course…
Notice that the upper arms of the average EE bears the BCG scar, that in my mind we should bring back for our kids in THIS country.

Have I actually read your post correctly??
So being that you evidently only mix with UK drivers,.and that it’s a well known fact that (Or in Winseer World anyway ) all foreign drivers are disease ridden,.and should be avoided, …that you will be fairly safe eh Winseer?
Grow up man ffs.

You’ve said many idiotic things on this forum in the past but this is quite possibly the most ridiculous of the lot (even by your standards)
Those of us who voted for Brexit are continually labelled as racists for doing so, in my case and the vast majority it is simply not true and an incredibly lazy and stupid accusation to be have levelled at you. However it is pathetic comments like you’ve made above that give ammunition to those wanting to accuse all leavers of being racist.
Guys another reason why tesco don’t want you in the cab, is because they can just lie. I handed my key in the locker went for a p and drink looked at the screen said unloading in progress I went to my cab door I never lock it. It was still a green light so I said sod it and just sat I’m the cab for a hour then it turned red and could hear the ramp then I went inside hmp tesco

Wrong, current Tesco policy at DC I work out of is goods in drivers can sit in their cab while waiting/being tipped.

Not at fradley
Fradley’s policy might be to wait in the waiting room but nobody does. I was in there a couple weeks ago and I saw a line of lorries being tipped, so thought the waiting room would be full. There was only one sap in there like Billy no mates lol.
