The terminal induction is not part of the PDP ,you can get the 25W exam from most ADR providers the difficulty is the 25 P practical but all the major hauliers put their drivers including new recruits through this process , it was Unite and drivers that wanted this and thus making it difficult for some to enter the industry , most including BP, DHL and Hoyer now prefer to employ agency which will eventually see the so called big money disappear .

The ADR was not too much of a problem, but the PDP? I simply couldn’t get it as an individual, self-funding outsider. I’m not convinced that too many firms would take on a driver who couldn’t enter terminals.
I heard some rumour that they do, some agency drivers are not inducted in some refineries so someone else is asked to load for them, no idea if this is true but it’d explain why agency is the ‘in thing’ nowadays;)

Those big guys jobs are dead mans shoes so I’ve heard.
What you heard is true, contacts certainly help as it’s very tight knit;)

I find that hard to believe as agency usually get equivalent or higher than employed staff plus there’s supposedly such a high demand for them

There’s a big difference between a Refinary and a loading terminal , even Grangemouth has a separate loading terminal , Kingsbury is a pipe fed terminal. They only supervisor loading as one offs should you load regularly agency or not you need inducting.

The agency are typically £1 less than employed plus they don’t get the additional benefits
The self e employed guys possibly higher but are there for demand , when not there ,they are gone. they prefer inexperienced guys also so I don’t think that hard to get in just need to sell your self .
