Hi wheel nut. excellent bit of history about Brothertons,we did quite a lot of work for them when I was in traffic office at Townson/Sadlers,Ammonia Liquor,Caustic Potash into them and reload de-icer out for the airports during winter months,(very hectic that was) no wash in between because the potash went into the making of the de-icer.Got a lot of work from them also when I bought into Direct North West Ltd still moving Potash from Runcorn and De-icer out of wakefield.
I dont remember who started YEWCO I only remember the guy who changed it to NEWCO (Tony Newby) in the late 70/80s.

ARROW came about when IBL who became operational around 1949 decided after using J L Townson Tankers for the movement of latex for some time to purchase the 2 road tankers from Townson and form there own transport company and from there it grew.Along the way they bought Eastaugh Bros Ltd and then the name of Arrow disapeared when Calor Transport bought them in 1977.

Chris Webb:
Great pictures John, another firm I remember well and so will Malc Wheelnut .
Fantastic john. Thanks, and that weighbridge was still the same when I used to go into IBL, even the weigh office was standing with George behind the window and Ivan the Terrible in the yard.
Thanks Chris, fantastic images, I used to load out of Doverstrand a few years later when they had moved over the river to Stallingborough.
Rogers daughter has sent me some of her photos through the post at last, but not got them yet. I have to take them back myself

Doverstrand Stallingborough was a regular drop for A.E.Evans with styrene from Baglan Bay.Didn’t they have a place at Harlow,or was that Harlow Chemicals - all confused now .

I think it was all related and is probably known as Harco now. Who was the latex manufacturer from Osset?
