Tachograph issue?

Yes it’s definitely going in slot 1

Top line:

!!! NO LEGAL PRINTOUT !!!

Yes because I didn’t print it out in UTC

Have the heads been downloaded by the operator and have they checked to see if any data for the day’s actually exists on the taco head? But it seems unlikely to have 2 faulty tachos at the same time in 2 trucks at the same company.

Has your card been downloaded and does that get read ok by the reader?

Also have you spoken to your office about the issue as it needs investigating to see what the problem is rather than just asking on here. Or even asked other drivers if they have had the same problem.

Have you defected both the tachos as previously mentioned?

So far all the bits we know still suggest a tacho head fault as already mentioned, but as we have said without further info to go on it’s hard to say otherwise what is going on other than a tacho head fault. But that seems rather unlikely given it’s happened on 2 separate trucks.

Are these brand new trucks?? I wonder if there is a chip shortage issue at play here that is causing the issue. Long shot but who knows.

And lastly again unlikely but have you had a new tacho card at all? But if you had I’d still expect an error of some sort with the card when Inserted.

No idea about heads being downloaded it’s not my job, yes card has been downloaded no I don’t know the result but it appears to download fine, yes I’ve told the boss, they’re 21 reg trucks, no it’s my original card which is still in date.

Error code 1 is a serious fault has appeared in the device or a communication fault.

33, 34 and 35 are something but possibly not related.

33 Motion sensor impulse when ignition is switched off
34 A card cannot be ejected (i.e. whilst driving)
35 Card processing delayed

Based on all that info I’d say it is a tacho head fault as suggested earlier and needs to be VOR’d on both units. Strange to have 2 units both do the same but is possible.

No card errors shown so still don’t think it is a card issue myself.

When you put your card in does it read it ok, does it show the last withdrawal etc? Does it then show the valid card inserted pictogram ok on the display after a short while?

A useful tacho error codes sheet to keep handy. Looking at error codes can quickly tell you what the problem is. Tapatalk Cloud - Downlaoad File Digital_Tachograph_events_and_faults.pdf

Are they sister trucks? Like purchased from the same dealer at same time? Just asking if both are faulting the same way could be a faulty batch of tacho heads or something?

They could be, I don’t know their history as the company already had them when I started.

34 would be me being an idiot and trying to eject when the ignition is off (can’t eject like that in Mercs) 33/35 I have no idea I’m a driver not a tacho-fixer-man but it sounds like error code 1 is the issue

Are they consecutive numberplates?

No.

Card has been downloaded twice (different weeks) and checked and there’s no infringements showing on card.

My tacho is having a moment… I did a 17 minute this morning, now just had a 30 minute break, for some reason its not recognised the first break, but, its on the printout…

^^^^^
You hadn’t done any driving when you had the 17 minute break so it won’t count as a driving break, it will count for the WTD but you cannot have a driving break until you’ve done at-least 1 minute of driving.

It’s not the tachograph that’s having a moment it’s you
