mucker85:
I think what some people are trying to say is you can get a better price when paying using £ Sterling. The government set prices are only in €.
Then I suppose that would depend on the exchange rate given by the shop but in my experience they never vary by more than a cent or two and certainly not by enough to make it worth going out of your way for.

Exactley mucker85, nobody in the right mind pays in euros in Adinkerke, I have found this out to my cost before
But for some reason Mr Monk thinks I havent been to Adinkerke , what a strange man HTH.
Although I think someone is trying to cause a argument for some reason .
Just for Easter Star, here is a picture of a packet of Belgian cigarettes.
On the top right-hand side is the excise sticker. On this sticker is printed the retail price which is set by the Belgian Government. It would be a serious excise offence to sell at anything other than this price, something which would land the seller in a lot of trouble yet you seem to have named a garage doing this?

I don’t say it, the Belgian Government says it. All tobacco products are sold at a Government-controlled price throughout Belgium, the price printed on the excise stamp.
Everybody who has ever been to Belgium knows this. Would somebody care to confirm or deny?
Harry, you’re correct, prices are set by the Belgium governement, hence the Duty Seal on the top with the price printed on.
JFYI
The only diference can be the exchange rate, but if you pay with monopoly money (oeps mend Euro) you pay the set price.

Some of the people “in the know” gave Adinkerke a miss and went a few kms down the road ,to avoid the coaches and people that thought they knew it all.

Never used that one meself.as we used to do night runs to Belge (x3 per week) and frequented the 24hr one nr Alveringhem (spolling)
As H has stated, the price of baccy was and still is dictated by the Belge government and any outlet caught selling it at a lesser price would be likely to find themselves in the cac.
Right I stand corrected . I will now pay in euros Thanks for all your advice , please dont bother replying Monk as you are on my foe list as your drivel annoys me HTH.
On the corridor turn off at the verune junction, I think its 1b and turn towards leper and its on the 2 nd set off lights junction. Roughly 5 mins from the autoroute and safe parking.

Not sure if its 24hrs though.
To be fair almost every fuel station or shop in Belgium give you some sort of loyalty card, cash back or free gifts. I hardly ever changed up BEF because if you put some fuel in you could get a bite to eat or some furry clogs.
I also agree that the reason some shops appear cheaper for booze and ■■■■ is the Sterling / Euro exchange. I used to buy my own fuel with Sterling from Wingene because the bloke needed 20 pound notes to come to England. He got a better rate on the ferries that way. Help everyone is my motto
