Supertruckers

On a lighter note did anyone notice the announcer in the link say ‘Kings Transport’  I’ve just watched it , as per usual , plenty of inaccuracies to keep us amused for a few weeks !

Apart from it being an hour of my life that I’ll never get back, the way I understood it was matey clocked-off,
Mrs driver came out in car,
Matey drove his car to base and met Mrs driver in truck, then went home together. If so,the car from truck to base maybe where the grey area is.
As it’s an out of scope vehicle for EU hours, can he do what he wanted from truck to base,or still under WTD?.

I’m clueless so feel free to educate me

No I’m not going there again,

And to try and get it back on topic, I thought Kings looked the better outfit, I wonder did Kings drop the program or did the production company drop Kings?

It appears a couple of posters have derailed this thread! :unamused:

Yep sorry about that,

Maybe we should get somebody important in the trucknet system to split the thread?

Do you know of anybody with that sort of clout?

Don’t apologize mate, it tickled me…

If THIS was the most exciting part of the programme I’m pleased I didn’t bother watching it. :unamused:

In reality who would bother with the very grey area legalities of it all. He parked up and his rest began from that point, him driving home in his own car isnt other work, all hes doing is picking his missus up from the yard and going home. DVSA do not rule your life, what you do after parking up is entirely your own business…

When they dropped that boat off ,Why did the ■■■■■■ van not get put on the truck for a save on the return fuel.
Also are you allowed to waffle on cb’s while driving one handed ■■
It was ok.

One or two on here evidently.
Didn’t see it so not fair to comment, but you mention ‘reality’ …so speaking generally, if I was a couple of miles from home and had the choice of another night cabbing it or going home to a warm wife by means of a tenuous illegal method what would I do.
Let me think about that one for half a second. :unamused:

I watched it for the first few minutes, and as soon as I saw that thick young lad in a sprinter with a frilly pelmet it got turned off.

Load of w4nk.

Personally I wouldn’t worry about it either if it benefited me.

I doubt many people would to be honest

Still no harm done in discussing it though, even if for most of us it is and always will be irrelevant

According to a post he made yesterday he’s in court today.

Been watching a few episodes lately on Discovery.
Some of it is ok, but the narrator does like to exaggerate things.
For example, “Steve can’t pass the bollards due to parked cars. He’ll therefore have to pass on the other side of the road, this manoeuvre is called a wrong way pass. Will he successfully make the manoeuvre?”.

Other than that, it’s not too bad.

It’s no different from trying to make a trunk run down the M6 by Stobarts sound as dramatic as an episode of Ice Road Truckers.

The drivers at Kings or Metcalf are almost as bad as the Stobart TV stars

Embarrassing sometimes.

Rikki-UK:
The important bit of the legislation is the “Taking over a vehicle” - in this case he wasn’t travelling to take over a vehicle

It doesn’t matter whether the driver is travelling to take charge of the vehicle or travelling from a location where he was in charge of the vehicle it cannot be counted as rest.

(EC) 561/2006 - Guidance Note 2

Hence, in line with Articles 9(2) and 9(3):

  • any time spent by a driver travelling to or from a location, which is not the driver’s home or
the employer’s operational centre and where the driver is supposed to take over or to leave a
vehicle in the scope of the Regulation, regardless of whether the employer gave instructions
as to when and how to travel or whether that choice was left to the driver, should be recorded
    as either ‘availability’ or ‘other work’ depending on the Member State’s national legislation;
    and
  • any time spent by a driver driving a vehicle, which is out of scope of the Regulation, to or
from a location, which is not the driver’s home or the employer’s operational centre and
where a driver is supposed to take over or to leave a vehicle which falls within the scope
of the Regulation should be recorded as ‘other work’

@Rikki-UK and @Mukkles, did you ever admit the @tachograpg was correct?
