And that’s why agency drivers are so much in demand, a job needs doing so they get on with it.
In their own time, hanging the job out for more dosh

That’s not true, and generally a perceived view of employed drivers… Any half decent agy driver knows that those in the transport office will have an idea of how long a job takes.

If you ever come across one in your driving career i’ll be very surprised. They are virtually dead much to the dismay of the purists.
Still run with an Eaton Fuller crash box over here they are more common than the autos

Old gearbox built by Eaton. Crash box, Double de-clutch (or better still no clutch at all), lightning fast shifts…but very unforgiving if you get it wrong. Stopped making them because the didn’t meet new noise standards, and couldn’t compete with the autos.

Sorry - I have to concur with urban1 here. A full timer will be rushing around on job and knock, whilst an agency driver will not put up with 12 hours work being squeezed into a flat 8 shift - so will make it last the official time it’s supposed to last. Not so much “hanging it out” - just doing it “by the book”.
I’ve been moaned at many times for turning up on time - when I was expected 40 minutes earlier than “the window time” for the job!
F— that. I’m not rushing for some scruffy loaders “wanna go home early” benefit just so I can get docked an hour’s pay…
