0 Hope you don’t mind John.
Thanks for that - I was going to do it today, honest! After I’d finished those jobs that my wife’s been asking about for a couple of months now. Went out on the motor bike yesterday instead, such a nice day. Up to Keswick, then across to Penrith and back over old shap down to Kendal. Magic!
John

any pics, you guys who went.
cheers
gazI took a few photos T.G. but I still haven’t sussed how to get them up on here. I could email them to you if I had your address then maybe you could put them up. By the way, living where you do, you wouldn’t know any ex Downing’s / Steetley drivers by any chance. I once worked there with a bloke called Ray, forget his last name. He did a stint on the middle east. Poor lad got run over with a stacker truck in one of the Steetley brickworks in Stoke. He survived I believe, but I suspect he’s never worked since. Regards. Eddie.
I don’t live to far away from the steetly works but sorry mate I don’t know any ex drivers, I will gladly upload them for you, I will pm you my email addy.
cheers
gaz
Here’s another one from Summerlee. Oh bugger.

I never realised that gardens were so big in Hindpool !
Cheers Dennis.
Amazing what we can do with CGI Dennis!
It was actually a rat in the back yard. The wall is just behind it in real life.
Just down the road from the steelworks. I can just picture you pulling out of the gate (now rebuilt as Bob Brady’s office further down hindpool road, where the hoop works used to be.) in a ‘Lad’ comet, with 20 tons on, shunting a 33’ trailer back to the yard where Travis Perkins is now.
Happy days,
John.

Well John I reckon that Jasper Maskelyne must have been employed by Barrow Borough Council during WW2 because the gerry’s were conned into dropping their bombs all over South ■■■■■■■ instead of on “The Yard” and you have carried on with his deception !! If you can turn a backyard in Hindpool into that shot of a beautiful back lawn you will defo get a job as a photographer with a Barrow estate agent.
Dennis.
