Playing CRICKET with George Best?
I’d be more impressed if you’d told us you were playing FOOTBALL with Bestie.
If it was me I’d get some milage out of that…I’d be boring the arse off everybody I met telling them that.

I would be more impressed if you told us you were on the (z.b.) with Georgie Best.
In 1973 I drove an Albion Reiver tipper for a guy called Patrick O’Dwyer, who was a demolition contractor. I only worked for Paddy for a month during which time he bought George Best’s house in Woodford Cheshire. As part of the deal, Paddy asked George if he would attend the house warming party, when Paddy had moved in and George agreed.
Paddy brought all his friends and relatives over from Ireland to meet George and invited all the drivers to the housewarming party. As I was ‘on a promise’ that weekend in Oxford I decide to give the party a miss.
Apparently, everybody turned up except George, who had gone on a bender in Leeds for the weekend.
Paddy was the only bloke I knew who got booked for having bald tyres and an expired tax disc on his Rolls Royce. Another driver and myself were peeing ourselves watching it and Paddy was very lucky that he didn’t get breathalised at the time.
Not one of O’Dwyer’s.
^^^^
It’s been one hell of a party if that is his house.^^

I used to live near Bramhall Park,I remember Bests house on the right hand side of Woodford Road, bit of a concrete monstrosity to be honest, very modernistic.

Sorry Froggie, I can’t recall the model of the Norton, I could guess , but if I get it wrong the wrath of the bike gods could come crashing down on my head regards Kev.
I checked the Norton number plate details on the DVLA site, and it showed that it has a 250cc engine.
My experience of Nortons in the 1960s was Norton 88…500cc, and Norton 99…600cc. Cheers, Ray.

Ray Norton’s had a 250cc model called a “Jubilie” Buzzer

Some of the Jubilees I seem to remember had rear wheel fairing around them, I had a 1961 model in 1963 for 6 months and that certainly had a fairing around the back.
Nice bike, did me until my Bonni was ready.
