I was driving a WT Bedford to Hellingly rally some 35 years ago through Horam, and at this very spot it backfired, sending Mrs Snooty and Dobbin careering at a rate of Knotts through the forecourt shown. :smiley:

Ah the memories, six digit phone numbers, trams (they were withdrawn in 1968), business names that have slipped from everyday parlance, cars and trucks no longer seen. I must be getting old. :cry:

Wow Gary…that brings back some memories, stayed there a few times parked up in the cattle market across the river, up town and a variety of pubs for a pint, Yate’s Wine Lodge, faint recollection of bar staff taking the money to a woman sat in a kiosk behind the bar for change from the till of which she had charge of, at one end there was a raised gallery with sometimes a music offering a violin player the only one able to fiddle in that hostelry :laughing:

My Dad worked for a few Scottish transport firms in the mid to late sixties and into the early seventies (McCall and Greenshields Kinneils and Allisons of Dundee)
He was Nottingham based and would often have to pick up lorries from London Road where the keys were left on the o/s/f of the lorry wheels [emoji106]

I used to deliver reels of paper from Hendon Paper Mill Sunderland to a firm in Wardour Street Soho, Capps Printers Ltd, And next door was The Sunset ■■■■■■■■■■, And from the upstairs canteen you could see the strippers getting ready to perform , There was some real rough lookers Mutton done as Lamb This was 1963/4, Larry.
