It’s amazing what can be done with modern computers.

Carl, as I am fully paid-up member of the “Boring Old ■■■■■ Club” I had forgotten all about that little light on the radiator grill on the Wolseleys, until Dipster mentioned it the other day. It doesn’t seem like 58 years ago that my workmate John, used to pick me up at the bus stop in his Wolseley Pathfinder, on our way to work on a cold and dark winters morning. Until yesterday I thought that John had a Riley Pathfinder but it seems that the Riley didn’t have a light on the grill, or did it.B.T.W. The photo of the traffic queue was apparently taken on Keswick Road in 1970, I wonder if the ■■■■■■■■■■ Sheeter spotted it.
Pathfinders did not have illuminated rad badges. But were nice cars.

Because the Pathfinder was a Riley, not a Wolseley.
Pathfinders, and the Wolseley 6/90 version, had the twin cam engine developed by Riley and they had a tendency to burn out the exhaust valves. They also had the gear lever on the right hand side of the drivers seat if my memory serves me well.
Pete.
Thanks for all the comments lads, John’s car seemed bigger than that Wolseley 1500 model. I.I.R.C. it was fairly similar to one of the Austin Cambridge models at the time, but it defiantly had the illuminated badge on the grill.

Always amazing to see how narrow were the cars’ tyres!

Probably either a 15/60 or a 16/60, an upmarket Oxford or Cambridge with either the 1500 cc or the later 1622 cc B series engine.

Pete.
Thanks Pete, that’s the model of the Wolseley that I got a lift to work in all those years ago. I remember that John had to have the sills replaced and at the time, the cost seemed like a small fortune.

This one looks smart, and quite alike the Peugeot 404.

All Pininfarina designed and the Pug was just before the BMCs

Not my photo but my first car was a Bavarian Goggomobile like this. Bought it from a mate at work when I past my test. It had an air cooled 2-stroke engine in the rear and four speed manual gearbox. The gearlever went from side to side to put it in gear as the H pattern was on it’s side.

Dipster remember that pub well, not a usual watering hole for me even though I only lived 3 mile away but one Christmas day night it was the only pub round us open so we went, someone had won a tray of eggs in a draw and not claimed the prize and some bright spark thought it a good idea as to who could swallow a raw egg, well one had to have a go and got it half way down and knew I was about to vomit so made for the door, got it open then up she came with half me dinner all over the “WELCOME” mat that was in the doorway, just flipped it over and went back in and carried on with me pint Buzzer
