Two load lock bars with cups on back two. Close doors crack on.

Vosa love straps…any missing and its £100…thats what they did me for with three quarter of a ton bags of powder…so your choice but i would strap the lot and a cross on the back…i aint losing another £100…better to be safe than sorry…but that driver who did it all in 20 minutes need a medal, takes me about an hour…lolMy thoughts exactly.
We all know you can’t ratchet strap them
We all know an internal strap isn’t going to hold one of those pallets if it’s going to move.
DVSA know an internal strap won’t hold it.
We all know if there’s enough force to shift one of them your more than likely tipping over anyway.
But, if throwing an internal on every pallet keeps them happy and saves me £100 fine, then it’s worth doing as far as I’m concerned.
But would internals on each pallet stop you getting the fine, considering they aren’t rated for that load aren’t you just going through extra effort for the same fine?
All depends on what type of curtain im pulling. We have curtains where the buckle just attach to the curtain and they would rip easily so would use internals on them. But most of our curtains the buckle is attached to a strap that go’s all way to top of trailer on a runner just the same as internals. so just cross them at back. Tbf much easier on a box lol.

On a tautliner ?
The way I’ve always strapped the last two whether it’s cans, bottles or anything else with internals was to get the last left and right strap and cross them over and fasten them half way along the back two pallets, then get the second to last two internal straps and cross them over and through the pallets and then secure them in front of the other internals hooks, never had a spilt load or bulging curtains and I used to do plenty of RDC and Brewery work.
If the load looked like it was likely to have any left right movement then I’d strap every other one or even every row like the orange straps in my diagram, remember this was before the rated load restraining curtains, though tbh I’d still base it on how heavy or wobbly the load was even with them load bearing curtains.
Quite hard to put into words but luckily I’m quite prepared to potch around in Paintshop

Actually I tell a lie, in my early class 2 days I had on groupage and it was xmas wrapping paper and I had tipped part of the load and didn’t have far to go till my next drop I was too lazy and in too much of a rush to re-strap the last two… I learn’t a good lesson that there day
I’m sure that nestle water place at Buxton ( do xpo run it , near lomas ) have something up about strapping with internals , while since I’ve been so maybe not now

I guess so yeah ha.
Suppose the only thing would be it makes it look like you’ve at least attempted to strap the entire load, so they might be more leniant even they know it’s not actually suitable.
I dunno lol
Light single stacked pallets you could just do cross straps. Paper cups, that sort of thing.
Drink weighs a fair bit… I would strap every pallet and try to “plan” a 15 or 30 min break around that.
If I am driving halfway across the country from Southampton to Birmingham… and the straps are freed up and I can do it in about 20 mins… why not.
The way I see it is that pallets of drink are extremely unlikely to shoot sideways, and even if they did the curtains would ensure that no kittens were killed. The most likely way to shoot a load of drink is forwards under harsh braking, because they’ve got a 3" or so gap between each one even though the pallets themselves ■■■■ tight to each other.
If I was going to use inappropriate straps to secure it, I’d cross the internals from the middle of each row, over the front of that row, and secure them to the eyelets in the middle of that row so that there was a kind of cup or brace for each row to push forward against if I did end up stopping too hard. And the same cross, just in reverse, over the back and let the headboard take care of the front row.
Running internals down the sides just seems like effort with absolutely no point.
