Have any of you agency guys ever been booked for a week, only to have the agency call and say it’s been cancelled, and later on find out the agency cancelled you but gave your shifts to someone else? It happened to me and when I did go back to the client they asked what was wrong with me (agency told them I was ill). When I asked the agency they said they were spreading the work out to those without any, “it being only fair.” Maybe I’m selfish but why should my work be given to someone else when the client asked for me?

driver hire did it to me in Portsmouth. They told me the second week was cancelled and told the client that i was not available. They don’t seem to understand that we are face to face with them and build a good relationship with them :unamused:

Driver Hire Oxford to me. Surely they didn’t expect me to think “yeah we’re all in it together, spread it amongst everyone.”

they dont give a ■■■■ they are common ■■■ holes like
that arrogent they see them self as what they want to do is undisputably correct
Regardless of the supplyer or customers needs
But that dont work in the real world thats why so many of them go out of buissness then start up again with a dot. at the end of there old name
Fly by nights we call them; live for today and make a quick buck for tommorow
Any way I dont give a hoot about them any more and no more then they give a hoot about me
Coz I dont have the time of day for them
dont work for them anymore, if one rings me up offering work I ask who they are and what line of buissness they are in
Once they say ‘we are an agency’ I say sorry once bitten twice shy then they hang the phone up on me

I’m now trying to get out of my head the thought of Snoop Dogg rapping it out…

How has a thread about odd behaviour deteriorated into a slagging of agency drivers?
There’s good and bad in all I’ve found. I’ve been both employed and agency and agency at the minute because it suits me.

I have been both employed & agency both have there benefits yep have helped out inexperienced drivers even though I am not that experienced but been in a place a few times so was asked to show the newer agency driver the way round ( mainly because he had a bad stammer & office bid couldnt be bothered even though agency driver was really nice good at his job just got on & done no fuss )

Was asked to move a Stralis once had to look round for the gears nearly phoned a mate  as never been in 1 before

Where I am now had 2 day on day shift with a driver then 2 with the night driver

But if in doubt ask I have quite a few times

The title says it all

Roymondo:
Had a new (to us) driver from the agency turn up for a shift today. After climbing into the cab of our high-tech ultra-modern (59 plate) Daf CF auto, he fumbled and fudged around for a while, attempting to select reverse gear using the wiper/indicator stalk, before admitting defeat and asking how to select reverse and release the parking brake…

Armed with the correct information, he then proceeded to reverse across the yard and backed under the trailer. He got it well under, but not far enough to engage the pin in the jaws. Even so, he then climbed down from the cab and tried to put the dog clip in. Having no joy (and bearing in mind the engine was still running, with reverse gear selected and the beeper squawking away) he then ducked right under the trailer and started peering into the jaws of the 5th wheel, presumably to see what was going on. At this point, our driver assessor cried “enough” and sent him away.

I do sometimes wonder where they get them from…

they where praying on him
watching his ever step, making sure he did not step out of the yellow pedestrianized yellow markins; making sure his hi viz velcro did not unzip as he had to work (ie put the suzies on)
Strange behaviour just coz he did a common humman thing and side with his lips closed or called by the OP purring like a ■■■■■ cat
Hence what ever you do is wrong what ever we do is right
Looks to me like he was persecuted the moment he walked into the transpot office
But unil the OP offer a defence part from a snarky little erelevent comment the thing go unchalenged and undisputed like
