THe share price might have risen because the market is short of stock… THat is, investment bankers are on the whole, running net-short positions (information available from “commitments of traders reports”) which effectively means in laymans terms that the market has been betting on Stobart’s demise for months.

If something has happened that prevents that demise from happening (it need not be higher profits, etc) then some banks close out their short positions by buying back the shares they owe the market, which exaggerates the share price gain, and encourages others to close out their short positions (“short squeeze”) as well.

The overall “news” that’s triggered it all off could be as little as “Stobarts secures a new line of credit”… That’s all it takes.

Trade the rumour, close out the fact. :wink:

I see Rikki’s post has been blocked due to rumour prevention. I notice Stob’s share price has jumped to 148

That’s because the nations favorite show starts again this week on Friday.
Apperantly they go up against the Ice Road Truckers at a truck festival.
