Stobart truckstops ltd

I think it a very good business move IMO, I think there about 700 stobart trampers out there. and with the average price of a truck stop been £18 per night 700@£18= £12700 per day, that’s if there all stop at a truck stop. also there could use the truck stops as operating centres as well.there could end up with a few of them as if you take may figures and work it to 250 days per year that £3 million plus savings, and the group would get the profits back the truck stops make so there win twice

Jenks already uses Penrith as an operating centre, although I cant remember seeing many Stobarts in any of them, they are normally blocking laybys during the day

Thought there is no money to be made in truckstops?!

They will do 1 of 2 things…

Close them down, especially rugby, and turn them into depots.
Or raise the prices for non stobart group companies not that it will matter because you won’t be able to get in them for their own lorries!

What’s next? Stobart TV?

Found this on line. So it is a new Company. Maybe just what we need. time will tell.

Came up on here a few weeks ago, a newly formed company looks like they are taking over 2 or 3, including Jenk’s at Penrith.

In related interest, what’s being built on the old J40 Truckstop in Penrith next to Aldi? And have they offered other locations for trucks to park?

Think its probably another ‘retail shed’ the steel frame’s going up and groundworks/roadways going in?

Does look like it, doesn’t it. Wouldn’t suprise me if it’s another supermarket, because Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Booths just isn’t enough (!).

It always seemed to be doing well as a truckstop when I passed, was suprised to see it close.

Or they could continue charging, the money going to Stobart Truckstops Ltd,thereby ‘moving’ some money from one part of the business to another?

2 Co-ops? I deliver to one of the filling stations, which is a NISA or something similiar these days, but never seen 2 chicken houses (Coops). Makes me laugh the amount of shops in a small area, must be murder in the markets.

It might have been doing well even making a profit, but the owners probably realised they could make far more by selling it for retail or distribution.

This is one of the biggest problems with getting decent facilities in the UK, any suitable sites are also suitable for retail or industrial development and that far more profitable, if it’s your land what would you do?

Yep, it’s a retail park, B & Q are moving in there from elsewhere in Penrith, and Pets At Home allegedly… but i think there’s probably going to be a few more…
and once B & Q move, rumour has it that Lidl are interested in their old place…

Stampers(the burgundy ones with fodens) sold out to them. For 3 mill, his son/grandson now runs wagons @'jenkinson… Jobs for the boys.

That could be why WCF pets are suddenly building onto their site by booths then? Little worried about a pets at home just down the road.

thanks for clearing that up though.

They are making alot of improvements in the truckstop, which is a good thing I suppose.but u can’t get moved for stobart lorrys and trailers, can’t see it being a quiet nite.don’t kno how it will be until they close the truckstop and just keep it for Stobarts.would be a shame it’s a good stop.good food and showers but just far too busy and noisy now with Stobarts in it.plus there will be even more carnage once the spotters move in lol

Rugby truckstop has been authorised as an operating centre for Stobart for 205 trucks, 150 trailer. It’s in latest A&D’s for eastern traffic area!

Unlike a lot of people on here, I have no axe to grind with stobarts.
But I have eaten in “cafe stobart” in Nestlé Coalville, and I recon it take skill and dedication to turn out food that tastes that disgusting.
I go in there for something to do whilst waiting to load, rather than sit in the lovely waiting room.
So,if they employ the manager from there it’s doomed I tell ya

Pulled in here at 05.30 this morning for a 24 hr break not first choice of places to stop but taco dictates not quiet at all constant stream of units looking for trailers and a shunters tug in and out won’t be stopping here again for anything longer than a 45 min in future. It is now basically just a hauliers yard with a bit set aside for parking
