Stobart troubles

That’s terrible news isn’t it
All those pikies that work him!
Similar things as working for Stobarts:

  1. Driving for Stobarts
  2. Voting Corbyn
  3. Whoring your sister

How low some people will go :exclamation:

i’ve done 2 of those things :open_mouth:

I betting it’s 1 and 3, because no same person would admit to 2.

Another Tory trucker.
No wonder the games f*&£@d.

Radar19:
How can you make an error that equates to £2m? Also, the shares have halved in a year, that is a massive sign of a failing business.

It not really missing £2m, it’s discrepancies in its accounting and reporting of profits, still bloody serious for Stobarts though.
Tesco had something similar a few years ago, a bit of “over creative accounting” :open_mouth: which over inflated profits, massive hit on share prices, massive fine to avoid prosecution, but even though some Directors faced fraud charges and up to 10 years in prison, I don’t think anybody actually was convicted, what a surprise? :unamused:

Not voting for Corbyn doesn’t automatically make you a Tory. Does make you sensible though

I’ve been on a Stobart assignment through the agency for the last three weeks, and there is definitely the same air of neglect that I saw at Canute shortly before they went “pop”.

Body panels which have been fitted to trucks because of damage have been left in plain white rather than being re-covered with graphics, despite old signs on the notice board warning drivers that failure to wear the full uniform is a disciplinary offence nobody has suggested that I should be wearing a uniform, they are increasingly reliant on agency drivers and the hourly rate is about the poorest in the East Midlands, the warehouse is 3/4 empty etc etc etc… even the “spotters” seem to have largely vanished. It’s all the little things which mean so much.

The trucks and work are legal but I do get the definite impression that Stobart are in serious financial trouble.

Who coined the phrase on here? “smoke and mirrors.”

Was it Bewick?

Could be just the tip of the ice berg with the Top man getting “immediate” marching orders so no doubt it will all come out in the wash ! Bewick

I also get the same impression and now this financial irregularity, smacks of desperation before the plug is pulled to me.
I know a local haulier to me that sold his fleet off and closed his business because Stobarts undercut him, some of the trucks not even a year old went to auction, I expect when Stobarts do go bang, the local huliers will not be so quick to offer their services, so this business will probably go bang as well, the long term prospects once again sacrificed for a cheap short term thrill and a new flash car for some individual with no more integrity than a gutter rat.

I’m really enjoying watching Korn, another brick in the wall…

I feel more and more to tell you all to go and ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

If Stobarts do go under, you can bet you’re bottom dollar that the other mega firms will be circling ready to strip the contracts.

WS are already set up to take over that has grown from nothing to being every where very quickly

Well bugger ! I guess that’s why the ‘Stobart truck spotter’ kit i sent for hasn’t arrived yet :frowning: ■■■■, i wanted to be ready when they opened up a yard here in the US :imp:

I’d keep holding out for spotters gear, I’m sure the name won’t dissappear, even if the present logistics operation using the name does go under, especially as I believe they don’t own the rights to the name.

Although I wouldn’t hold on spotting too many of their trucks in the USA in the near future.

Alex Laffey is EX Tesco…perhaps he introduced a few bad habits into ESLs accounting practices ?.. :unamused:

The Biomass side own the name, along with the other money making businesses.

The general haulage side is left well alone as we all know its in a race to bottom.

The reason panels aren’t wrapped after
Replacement is not to do with money
It’s because depot managers / planners won’t
Leave the lorries with scania who have full
Kits of wraps long enough to do the job properly
As for money it does make me laugh
That you and others say £550 pw take
Home is a reasonable wage when tramping , I took
Home more that that tramping for them

So it is all about the money - ie the cost of having a truck off the road while the wrapping work is done…

I got a txt asking if I wanted a extra shift this
Week & next ( no I’ve got a life ) so

For a haulier which was built to the size it is largely on image, it is telling that they no longer feel able to maintain that image.

I haven’t stated here how much I earn working for them, and since I’m working there via agency and don’t do nights out, it probably isn’t relevant anyway.

No , they are told to repair the lorries properly by fleet
Manager , panels ,wrap etc , scania have it all
Depot managers / planners decide not to
I know this from speaking to fleet & scania
I’m sure you were on a thread not long ago
Saying £550 was a reasonable amount to
Take home tramping as others did
When I worked direct for them I took
Home more than that & I take home more
Than that with a 12% holiday deduction
& 45 min break on agency ,
