Aren’t new starts on the old rates £7.20 for the first 12 months?
Yea, £7.20 ph 06:00-18:00
£8.10 ph 18:00-06:00
That is hourly rate for first 12 months.
also no f/b for first 3 months.
12 months seems a long time to be on probationary pay to be honest, but beggers cant be choosers.
This is my first full time driving job, I gotta start somewhere. Even if it is low pay and more travelling.
Bud143:
Depends what shifts your doing pal and if its day or night
friday-tuesday on days (unfortunately) would have preferred nights.
Sat £10:45 ish and sun £11:25 ish wed and thurs off but there’s nowt to stop you working an extra shift! Paid fortnightly in arrears! Everything gets processed on a Wednesday so your shift is ideal! Make sure your timesheets and expenses are in Tuesday night once you log off!

Is that just new drivers or new drivers to the company?
I went for a job there last year, and there was no mention of a lower rate to start, he told me £7.50 (I think it was at the time, believe it’s £7.75 now according to the sheet up in the orifice)
I would consider working for them, but wouldn’t work for less than other people for 12mths, I’ve got over 4yrs artic experience, adr, dCPC etc. Why would I work for less than someone who’d been with the firm 12mths and do the same job?

Not sure why they pay new starters differently for 12 months. I’ve heard of company’s paying less for 6 months, but never a year.
I don’t mind too much, its a starting post. As long as i earn enough im happy.

Like I said, maybe if you’ve just passed your test, it’s not too bad, foot in the door, experience etc, but not for someone who’s been doing the job 2yrs + (I’d say) and is just new to the company.

but even if you got the same hourly rate you could well be earning less than the bloke in the truck next to you, what happens if the other bloke gets a gauranteed 55/60 hrs p.w and you can only scrape 49 hrs in,what happens when he gets 12 hrs on a sunday at 11 p.h and you only get 8 [7 hrs at 11 p.h,1/2 hr at 7.75 p.h,what happens when another bloke does 40 hrs [gar 50 hrs],you do 52.5 hrs[less 5x 1/2 break]=50 hrs,so hes working 10 hrs less than you for the same money, divide his 40 hrs into 50 hrs pay, against your 52.5 hrs for 50 hrs pay and hes on more p.h than you are,i understand what your trying to say,but no two drivers will ever earn the same on hourly pay,or not how its paid at stobarts, all you here is why is he getting all the hours, why he getting the short days and im not, whys he getting the long runs, why he always get 15 hrs in at w/ends at premium rates and i only get 10 hrs every week, etc, etc, most i know get the same hourly rate, but there still moaning that others are earning £200 p.w more than they are, theyll always be the haves[blue eyes, bosses pets] and the have nots whatever the hourly rate is,

I understand what you’re saying Ady, even without any punctuation but I’m talking hour for hour, not what happens in a week. If I work 7am - 7pm on a Monday and Joe does the same, both on same company, same depot, same job, then we should be on the same rate. Not rocket science.
I’ll stick to agency for now, then at least I get to do the job for more
