Stobart Knockers

Dipper_Dave:
Although I feel slightly deceived in viewing this thread due to a missleading title , yep I was expecting a nice pair of top bollox.

What a great gesture by Stobarts, will mean little to us but the family will really appreciate it.

Just a general comment but it surprises me that theres so many anti-stobart posters on this forum, but their probably the ones who failed the driving assesment at some point.

I don’t know why so many slate stobarts, mabe your right about faild assesments but I
failed an assessment as well. I have just re appliyed,i cant think there any worse than
other Haulage companeys ? just my opinion.

Do you know what? I don’t give a rats ■■■ if Stobbies are using this sort of thing as a cynical marketing ploy. It’s too late for poor April, but Maddie is still missing and if even one person has their memory jogged by advertising of this nature on a truck I say good luck to them.

I’ve got mixed feelings about this, naming a lorry after April is a nice gesture, but giving it to an unknown driver may have given the whole thing less of a publicity stunt appearance.

Giving the vehicle to the welsh bloke ensures it will get mentioned frequently when he appears on T&T.

Having said that, it’s still a nice gesture.

Madeleine McCann springs to mind.

They did a few full trailers for her…

This is possibly the best use of a trailer I have seen in a long time.

The best use of a trailer I’ve seen is when it’s full. Plus I don’t need a picture on a trailer to remind me of that poor lass Maddie, there’s something about her case in the national press nearly every other day. Maybe if the parents acted like parents when they left their kids alone in the room while they went out for a meal in a different country then we wouldn’t be wondering if she was still alive or not. Never mind they only went across the road, you don’t leave young kids unsupervised and I feel they haven’t had the bad parent tag given to them because they are middle class parents and not some working class parents from a sink estate.
I may upset some folk on here with my views but its my opinion.

missing kids/folk used to be advertised on milk cartons (may still do?) but if these cartons had stobart written on them then we would get some of the drivel thats on here from the stobart haters…

what they have done is a very good gesture and they must be respected for that…

as for free advertisement ect why is the article from a local rag? they could have had all sorts there…

perhaps the truck as been given to a driver from wales and who is recognised as being from wales, and end the day he portrays himself as a caring guy, and i suspect that he will look after this truck with April in mind?

I have worked for them and left, however one thing must be said

well done stobart!

Agreed.

I agree mate. I don’t think, if a ■■■■■■■■■■ did actually abduct her, it’s their fault but I’ve never seen them take any sort of responsibility for what was lazy irresponsible parenting so they could indulge in a night out. I have a lot more sympathy for the parents in this one.

Nice gesture from Stobarts but a bit self-serving from a PR point of view they could have just offered to pay for the family to have a nice holiday or something and kept quiet about it. Real charity, to my mind, is giving and not necessarily seeking kudos for doing it.

Unfortunate thread title I did wonder if it was going to be a Fiona thread before it opened.

we are all good parents arent we…

my parents used to take us to butlins where me and my sister were left in chalets whilst parents went pubbing it, the only monitoring thing was a gizmo in the room that alerted someone that we were awake… were my parents bad parents? no.

I have been on hols in the same area as Maddy,s dissaperence and alot of families do the same thing

no parent can honestly say they have not left their child alone, be it for a few minutes… thats all it takes, even in Aprils case folk blamed the parents straightaway… how many kids are in childcare/nursery or left with family members, friends? we all trust that it will not happen to us and ours but fact is it does happen and in majority of cases it by those who we have trusted to look after our children so are we all to blame?

I,m a father of 6 and i know 100% that at times they have been left to some degree, playing in the garden whilst i,m sorting the youngest ect,

more effort should be put to removing the scum from this world and not blaming the parents who will be going through hell as it is, if it happened to me i just would not be able to carry on with my life…

100% correct, SBt,when we used to take our granddaughters on overseas hols they were never out of our sight at all times or at worst we were sat at the apartment door having a late night coffee/drink when they were tucked up.I and my wife have no sympathy with the McCanns as they have asked for all they’ve got, however we do hope that Maddie will eventually be found safe and well,it wasn’t her fault that her Yuppie parents were too far away having dinner with their equally yuppie pals, what a bunch of ■■■■■■■■■ they truly were.Cheers Bewick.

I am of the same opinion, the family were on holiday, (as a family) so the kids go where the parents go, even to a restaurant or a bar as that is what the continentals do. I have been in many foreign restaurants and the young children are made welcome. The McCanns did not act like grieving parents, they went to see the Pope they toured the world and spent too much time on TV to be looking for their child. Rothley is quite close to me and I spent a lot of time in Sileby where support for Kate and Gerry was not as strong as in the rest of the UK.

I certainly recall thinking WTF?

They supposedly believe their child might be abducted and still alive yet decide leave the scene to ■■■■ around with a media circus going to see the Pope.

Can’t see how leaving kids, below even school age, unattended falls anywhere under the heading good or even average parenting.

I think if it was a ■■■■■■■■■■ ring that took her, they would have also had an outlet for two little boys. No jokes about Rolf Harris please.

Everyone needs to be very careful about the McCann comments… They have learned a lot about suing people for what they have said about them…

They can sue me all they want, I haven’t got any money anyway.
But some blame has to be etched on the parents, I mean it was October so pitch black at 7:30 at night and April Jones parents let her out to play!!! Idiots.

Don’t know how they could sue you for having an opinion. Why would they to sue??.. Probably because they don’t want to be tarnished as bad parents that’s why.

There aren’t going to be anymore TV shows are there?

so it seems that in some opinions that because April Maddy and many others have by some opinions bad parents that it was deserved?

if only as much energy was put into stopping the ■■■■■■■■■■ gangs instead of immediately slagging parents off once a child as gone missing then may be these things would not happen…

as driving is mainly long hours either day drivers or tramping are you all sure where your children are 100% of the time? and that they are safe?

as ive said i,m a father of 6, well whilst in donnington services a couple of years ago, and getting the kids some food, I lost site of one of the lads who was 5 at the time, I cannot but into words what I felt, he was missing for approx 15 mins and had gone to the toilet and then wondered into a shop… however the feeling is the worst feeling I have ever experienced, yes i took my eye off the ball, and none can blame me more then i blame myself and yet end of the day nothing happened, family and friends take the p88s about it nowadays and i laugh with them, but inside it still bothers me that something could have happened.

so how the parents in the case of any child that as been missing/lost murdered ect cope is way way way beyond what i could imagine…

NO ONE parent or child deserves what is being said!

There’s a big difference in what happened to you at Donnington to what happened to Maddy. you had your kids with you and lost concentration for a few seconds, thankfully you found your lad safe in the end. With Maddy her parents decided it was fine to leave 3 young kids alone in a hotel room while they went off for a jolly up with their pals, they didn’t bother to get a nanny to look after them while they was out and they don’t seem to want to take any blame for it happening.
