They pulled into Carisio on the way to Turkey and I got a couple of pics, talking to the drivers they seemed to be all experienced European drivers picked for their knowledge. they were waiting for some others to turn up still when I left. The two DAF’s were ex Honda trucks.
I have better pics, but not on my pc yet
So how big is the convoy with 5 pictured and waiting on others. Seems like a big operation
Wouldn’t mind a closer look at the 3 mercs jimti
I think there are 3 DAF’s and 5 Merc’s, they do look very tidy, I will post other pics as I get them on PC, but due to how they were parked and the fact I don’t know how to take a good picture I am not promising much LOL, all taken with iphone as well
you will notice the curtains are shut on the trucks, no hotel room for these boys
Did you get to talk to some of them and find out if they were taking the ferry from Trieste or driving all the way to Turkey. Talking to some of the F1 truckies last week, it seems that the Stobart Brawn operation isn’t making to many friends in the paddock.
they were heading to Trieste, but I was left with the impression they were going overland.
They seemed quite happy with their lot, no mention of animosity in the paddocks LOL
maybe it’s all the mooning the other teams when Button wins that is winding them up LOL (only jokin)
My mate put his daf on the ferry in Trieste then was taken to lujbliana(sorry if it’s spelt wrong) airport and flown to Istanbul.

Hi all, Just signed up after reading stuff about Stobarts and Braun and speculation is a wonderful thing!! But is not every thing! as my best pal (bro) is 1 of the drivers and is pulling the cars for the team. I’m in good place for the facts and many on here are a little (lets say) speculation as always when things not known. Things always come out in the end! Things are going to be a LITTLE diffrent than many think and a FEW could be shocked Not going to say much more other than. People got couple of jobs because of Experiance and know how and how they do there job!!! I worked worked for stobarts for 2 and half years on European so not just speaking from hear say! Think this 1 was a LITTLE to HIGH profile and too much MONEY for blue eyes!! There is them who can do it and them that cant! them that will! and them that CANT! them that do! and them that CAN! and them that do nothing but moan about it!!! Seen both sides as a driver and an employer. GOOD LUCK to them who are doing it! what an Experiance!!Crack on and keep her LIT!!!
Hello Russ I was on Stobart European from July 05 till a bad accident on M6 in July o8 still not back at work though, Is Sandy on the F1 Team now? I thought I saw him during the 'Trucks & Trailers thing on Channel 5!!
Different teams operate using truck drivers in different roles. Larger teams have specialists in every department and truck drivers are flown in and out as required. Even meeting trucks on long routes, so trucks are not parked overnight away from base or a circuit.
Core truck drivers are specially trained to assemble hospitallity facilities, using Hi-ab.
Some drivers are employed on ad hoc basis to run trucks across europe, mainly double manned, e.g. Driver flies into Barcelona on Sunday night, Driver picks up already loaded truck on Monday night and runs overnight to next circuit e.g. Monaco. Driver will then fly back to UK, leaving core drivers to set up.
