Working time directive is that you have to have 30 mins break before 6 hours after your shift starts,
Its part of the cpc course if you have your 45 minute driving break before 6 hours it also counts as wtd.
Then you have to have another 30 mins break before 6 hours is up after your 45 driving break has finished.
Basically you have to have a 30 mins break for every 6 hours you work irrespective of driving time used.Jeff.

you nly need to take a 15 min break before the 6th hour if your working day is to exceed 6hrs . you will how ever need to take a further 15 min break later …

if in doubt ask Tachograph, Rog, or coffeeholic they will put you right but read the comments made by tachograph in the above post and you wont go wrong …
Use the clock on the tachograph VDU for your clock times and use a peen and pad to write down you times till you get use to it ie…
X = other work
B = break
D = driving
P = POA
start X 0800 to 0830 ( that’ll be your start time and veh checks etc
D 0830 to 1015
X 1015 to 1030
D 1030 to 1100
B 1100 to 1115
etc etc etc you get the picture , you’ll be writing down almost what the tachograph will record .
Just remember before 6 hrs 15min break or at 4.5 hrs max driving ( or just before ) a 45min break .
