Speed camera

Well at least we don’t have the ones that they have in Holland.
They put them in wheelie bins. So look out north wales.

I think the UK had TRASHED that idea…

driving down the A414 near harlow i noticed some new cameras have appeard behind the conventional camera GUTSO etc,

It is a grey rectangle box (like a CCTV camera but bit bigger) that appears to nearly tild towards the grass and not the road - what are these for - i assume they work in conjunction with the yellow camera

Have also noticed them at other sites as well

Answers on a post card please,

EDIT - Has any one else noticed the nearly invisible SPECS camera on the M25 going towards the A10 junction…all you can see now is the yellow poles, they must of run out of magic paint for the polls, crafty or what. :open_mouth:

No idea what they are without seeing a picture, lilely to be CCTV or traffic cameras rather than speed cameras.

Last time I went to Harlow was about 2weeks ago and where the 4 or so cameras are coming along the A414 they’d also put down those traffic measuring strips across the road before the cameras. This is usually done to see if drivers are slowing down just before the cameras, but also to check for traffic congestion, so maybe it is related in someway, bit convenient to have congestion checking equipment right next to the speed cameras though.

Usualy when you see those black strips across the road with the recording box on the verge for a couple of weeks, shortly after a GATSO wil be installed.

Truvelo’s flash. I’ve been a passenger when two of these have gone off. IIRC, one coming out of Bedford on the A6 (end of dual carriageway) and before that new bypass was built at Black Cat going into Bedford, you headed down into that village and just round the corner, there was one there. They usually have a pinkish filter so that the flash isn’t as bad as what it could be.

i was told by a copper that if a gatso (see the link above)f lashes you when you re going towards it ,it generally means theres no film in it so they lower the threshhold and thats why it goes off.obviously they cant do you coz they cant when youre driving at that type.

Truvelo’s do flash I’ve seen the one on the A1 at Gronerby moor go off (not for me) and I nearly {zb} myself. Even their website admits it’s only a magenta filter.

Coming out of Basingstoke on the A339 towards Kingsclear, put the foot down a bit. Later on chatting to someone they said about the speed camera, It’s one that points at you. I did not see it.

You didnt see it, its bright yellow :open_mouth:

I was informed that the cameras, north and south jct 35 M6,

Are the new digi ones and they don’t flash,

Any truth in this ■■?

Solved, going south bound last night, car overtook, first camera double flashed…

Happy trucking guys :sunglasses:

The Truvelo cameras do flash once, the one on the A35 Redbridge Road, between the Redbridge flyover and the Dock gate 20 roundabout in Southampton flashed at a car along side me during the period that the speed limit was reduced for the roadworks.

The cameras will never take you head on, you can flash them delibeately and they won’t take a picture, just flash. They will only take a photo of you from behind on your side of the road. This is because its invasion of privacy taking a photo into a car or lorry etc, when they were just introduced I’m sure it was a member of parliment that was taken head on with his bit on the side in the car, it went to court etc and that was the outcome that they can’t take you head on. Some cameras are inactive at times and won’t flash at all, some don’t have film as well but they are becoming all digital and don’t use film.

Truelo is Home Office type approved for frontal photography.

The single incriminating photograph will not be sent unless the car owner asks for it - a Home Office Home Office ruling aimed at avoiding embarrassing situations if a driver is photographed with someone he would prefer not to be seen with.
