a 111 working for hoover at merthyr.Hi all, Andrew iirc it was the late 70s early 80s when BRS took over all of Hoovers distribution. It was strange seeing different vehicles pulling trailers from a long time private fleet.
Regards Paul.
Hi Paul,
I have been busy reading the magazine you kindly sent me.it has given me a few ideas of things I can do to my truck.john smallcoal that scamell crusader and several others are all owned by my friend rob Wilson from goytr near pontypool.that 1733 merc. You found in Gloucester looks very straight and original.good find fair play . I think? those army oshkoshâs were assembled at llantrisant? Joints bought a few mandatorâs from Hoover at Merthyr.i have photos of them.as I recall the aec Hoover fleet were grey.would this scania be a brs motor?
Hi Andrew, glad you got the magazine ok. Rhiann wrote the envelope out, and asked me what the town was. I told her Bridgend, but checking your card it didnât have a town listed. Should it be South Cornelly, or is it not necessary.
The Hoover fleet had a repaint from grey and white to blue and white, shortly before being decommissioned, Alyn will know the exact dates.
Regards Paul

Hi All
Yes the Scanias are all in the BRS days. Last units Hoovers bought were Foden s80s. The biggest cab and smallest heaters I ever drove. Freezing in the winter. The colour scheme changed from the white/grey to blue/grey about 3 years before the finish. the units had a band of gold separating the two colours. It was also about this time the trailers started carrying product adverts behind the hoover emblems. Joints certainly delivered steel to the factory but to my knowledge never hauled out of there.
Would be interested to see the photos of the Mandators that joints bought and the Mercury from Llandow
Alyn
Sorry
Should read white /blue not blue/grey

Hi Andrew
I was with Hoovers until the final day. You are right about the mysterious ways. Rumour has it that maintainence costs were allowed. To buy a new unit needed sanction from the States. There were units rebuilt after accidents which to me did not make any sense.
