Most of the drivers probably only want to do the F1 work so they can brag to other people about it, like most people would even give a toss.
Can’t see the appeal myself, the money’s not even good.
And the couple of Stobarts drivers I’ve met who were doing F1 were decent guys who seemed to want to talk about anything else, but thier F1 jobs. Which is probably why they’ve got the job and the big mouthed glory hunters haven’t
They deliver into our place sometimes, some stay in the wagon while others parade the yard looking for a victim, had 1 tell me my job was no good and I should get on the green dream, he seemed bemused when I asked if they could match my £50 night out and free beer allowance

Its a shame some of them can’t just take a bit of pride in what they do and respect other people. Yes they work for a successful outfit and yes theres now a big stigma attached to that in the trucking world but its idiots like the one mentioned here that let the rest down. I would have loved to see his reaction after B1 told him that!

I know a few lads who work for them and are there to get the bills paid etc but then theres some right wallops, and unfortunatly they are the ones you remember.
I dont think they are exclusive to Stobarts, just that people like to highlight its a Stobart thing because they are infatuated by the grean team.

I’d love to do it. I’m a big F1 fan and to drive a truck to the race and be around it all I reckon would be great. I’m assuming the reality is far from my rose tinted view but I’d still give it a go.
F1 tickets are expensive so to be paid to go to my favourite track at Spa in Belgium seems a good deal.
Considering I don’t even work for them though and have no intention of taking such a cut in hourly rate to spend all week away from the wife and kids, I doubt I’ll be getting the job!

From the Stobart program that was on a while ago, it isnt just drive and then watch the race, you have to set up, cook for everyone etc…

Go to Monaco, stuff the race and just enjoy the atmosphere and buzz that F1 brings to the place.

Spent 5 years driving trucks to the F1 circuits and saw more F1 racing on telly than at the circuit.
Didn’t always see alot of our own race as I was in the pit lane waiting for the car to come in and anyway it seemed everytime I’d try and find a monitor to wach one of our cars would crash.
To be honest most of the guys who drive the trucks for F1 are agency or Stobarts and don’t work for the teams. Many get flown home once the truck is in place on the circuit and came back on Sunday to pack down and drive back.

Nnooooo! Don’t destroy my dreams man! I’m happy thinking that you drive a top spec truck there, get a free weekend in a good hotel and prime seats for the race.
I won’t listen to anything else contrary to this. La la la la la.

As by your own admission you’d probably never do it,
Then yea! they all turn big flash trucks, give em a bit of a polish and spend the weekend in a top hotel, with hot and cold running grid girls and get then get helicoptered to the track on Sunday to watch the race from the top hospitality box, attend the after race party with the Drivers, grid girls and great and good of F1, before getting into the truck about Midday on Monday to take it to the next circuit and it all starts again. It’s a ■■■■ life, but somebody has to do it.

it’s all true and I forgot the free Ferrari, Merc or Lotus depending on the team you work for.
And guess what you get if you work for Virgin?
Yep! You guessed it free internet and life insurance.

So what you doing now muckles? i read a post of yours in the euro forums, you back with the racing teams again mate??
Yea back on with a race team called Jota, they run an Aston Martin Vantage GT2 on the Le Mans series. plus the Le mans 24 hours so a bit different than what I’ve done before, but in many ways pretty much the same.
6 months on UK General haulage work has reminded me how much I enjoy the motorsport work. and repect all those who spend thier week fighting to get round the UK road network to get loads delivered.
as a stobbie driver i can confirm that there are stobart drivers who carnt help talking she-ite, i find it embarrassing some of them actually annoy me to the point of violence! but ive not heard anythink different that any other numpty hasent said b4, i think the drivers room and the fact we have to sit in them has spawned a boredom to produce more stories better than the next, now i have my smartphone i find i can hide my disgust watching liverpool beat the mancs…well done red men
