An oldie from Hull WALFORD TRANSPORT

RECKITTS HULL

mat man:
lionport did not become parkland.des parker ownd parkland.lionport was run by bernard camble.

Cheers Mat Man. I got my lions mistaken. Vince and Des worked together. Vince worked for Malcolmsons originally.

Billheads. I have been trying to identify the theatre with Harold Lloyd and the Milky Way. It was a big hit in 1936 but I can only think of one Hull Theatre that was bombed in 1939.

I cannot find any mention of Arthur C Page or Khula Krush.

Do you mind if I use the picture on another forum to try to identify the theatre.

When I used to go into Hull with my dad, he always pointed up at Percy Needlers house and said, "is he in? Many years later I had a chance to visit the house, and most disappointed to find there was no toffee factory in his garden. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi Wheelnut…no prob at all

Wheelnut…reason why there was no toffee factory in the garden was that this was the other Needler, the builder, once Chairman of Hull City
Hoveringham Gravels etc etc

Ah that makes sense. I sort of remember Harold Needlers name being mentioned too.

I have been a bit of a willie wonker on this thread.

on Stoneferry Road more or less opposite Lorriane Street

Any idea of the colour scheme for Benninga

The first pic is of P ROBSON Hull, the operator is the son of E.ROBSON the operator who retired a while ago ( Robsons were originally from Wansford, they moved to a yard off Crowle St Hull)

Hi billheads,

You have some fine pics there mate, and I remember Britannia from my Italy days.

Robsons are now on Wilshire Road

Lionport Lion Freight was formed from Lion Shipping or vice versa and eventually became Parkland International.

Vince was one of the blokes, a rather effeminate chap with a bouffant hairstyle :stuck_out_tongue:

My recollection of him was when he was rolling about on the floor in the office with another driver one Saturday morning as they were having a cat fight, the other bloke had permed hair and they were probably jealous of each other.

The C J Davison Scania was related to TODON who had a yard adjacent to MAT on Freightliner Road

Cheers again wheelnut, this TODON , i believe was Tom & Don (THe Don was Thompson) i will have to have another word with the Tom fella ( an old mate of mine from years ago , it was he who told me about his partnership with DT.
Anyway i shall be putting on some more Hull pics especially Huon and the Ritchies trailer in Blakeys yard .
