Worked for a company a couple of years ago. Got in the lorry, played on laptop, went home. 9hrs shift, only turn the ignition on to do the checks.
I did an agency shift for DHL once. New to the Renault so spent a while familiarising myself with the controls, then walk around checks, and began reversing the unit from its parking place. Got about ten feet and my phone rang. It was the agency telling me my shift had been canned, to park up the unit and go home. Another ten feet forward back into the parking bay and home I went.
Eight hours’ pay for twenty feet of driving. Any advance on that?
Agency shift in a place called Grocery Logistics in Pindar Road Hoddesdon(closed now hauled RHM stuff like Homepride Flour,Sharwoods,Robertsons Jam) to Sainsbury’s Rye Park end of Normandy way a grand distance of 2 miles round trip had to do it twice though cheeky sods. Added benefit though of knowing all the warehouse staff in Sainsburys as I also did a bit for Sainsbury’s as well so when I went in just got pulled straight out of the queue onto a bay much to all the other drivers disgust.Started at 7 done by 10 paid 8 hour shift at premium rates, proper touch.
12 hour shift, 7 mile. 9.5 hours on break.
Kerchinnnnnnnng
About 15 years ago-Waitrose (used to be run by Hayes)RDC, Brinklow, Milton Keynes to Waitrose Store, Central Milton Keynes, about 5 miles round trip & an hour’s work, got paid 8 hours. Thank you.
Done quite a few 0’s, but shortest actual duty was still a 0 because it didn’t clock 1km, K+N @ Manchester Airport to Servisair and back
Phone call from the agency can you do a pm shift on Monday.
Arrived 1300 to be told 3 collections drive all on this estate. Including poaching 1630 Finnish.
Back at the office was told we need someone for the rest of the week.
Easily the best 40hrs work I’ve had and less than 40 kms for the week.
