Cutlers a blast from the past i always get them mixed up with Elliotts who used to do a lot of
traction off the docks. Where was Cutlers yard again,i cant remember ■■?

Dawkins Road, Hamworthy, not far from Phil Horridge’s place .

Thanks Joe,remember now. Your question about the agents at Poole.

G.J.Coopers and Channelports were i think the first two plus another which i cant for the life
of me remember then loads followed,Mat,R&G, Road sea,Lep,Freight Clearance,Ufo,frans Mass,
and others i just cant remember now.

We used to clear with RH &D

That’s a great picture Geoff, I thought he was born old I can’t remember him being young. I will remember him with great fondness a great character and friend.

Another regular through Poole, does anyone know if they are still going, cant remember the last time I saw one of there motors,so probably finished or been taken over ■■

They finished years ago Dean I worked for them for a few weeks worst job I ever had he was a horrible man.A shame because they had some good work, but I think the Smith family from Keynsham put the money up to start the company.

Gordy’s send off - click on the link below to see the Echo’s write-up.

Even got a Routiers drivers seat cover .

It might just be his Routiers sleeping bag thrown over the seat to air (I had one like it)! Robert

Yes i do remember when Bunns finished it was a awkward slip road to get in their , depot,i think they had a soft drinks distribution ,? most of the drivers i knew, all dispersed in to the main fridge haulage companies as they were all very experienced fridge, and meat men.no matter where you went a BUNNS would be there.that is where ifirst heard the saying [where you to] meaning where are you going…

Hi Geoff that pic of Dennis Lister I have, where did you get that ? no bother though remember when his son Simon used to ship out for Colin Wilks aka Hocfun now that’s going back, they also did a lot of banana’s. Remember Dennis and his father in Wilksie’s office trying to extract funds which was difficult sometimes. Did they also run a 1418 Merc back in the day something says they did, hey is Simon still about ? cheers Buzzer.

Hi Buzzer I borrowed your Photo from one of the sites on TNUK as I remembered Denis Lister used to live in Christchurch and I remember seeing that truck around Poole a lot back in the day when I worked for Reg Bugler who was friendly with Dennis.I do Know that they did a lot of bananas, and seem to recall a Merc but have not seen or heard of Dennis or Simon for years. The name Colin Wilks rings a bell but can’t think where or why I know it.cheers Geoff
