Hiya Bob lad, you are quite right about Patrick O’ Dwyers garage being behind Birch Services in the early 70’s, we were knocking down the old R.A.F. Heywood site at the time.
I remember Paddy buying George Best’s house with the swimming pool it was near Woodford , it was not far from that transport company who had the green motors, was it Fieldings ?. Apparently, Paddy invited all his friends and most of the drivers to his house warming party to meet George Best who was the guest of honour. Every body turned up, except George who had gone on a bender in Leeds for the weekend and had forgotten all about it  .
If you do see etch give him my regards and wish him a happy Easter.
Regards Steve.

Untill I realised that after pasting the copied image code from photobucket back onto the TruckNet post. You dont actualy see the picture you have done untill you press PREVIEW then scroll upwards.

Do you know how to email pics ? If so, you could email tthem to me and I could post them up via PhotoBucket.

hi mate i will get there in the end . all the stuff i have 90% of it is photos . will have a look at my scanner and see if theres a letter box to shove em down . cheers paul

I would be interested in the Foden pics, especially if you have a half cab as I drove those for Tilcon (a proper company!).

Pete.

yes mate my half cab is ex tilcon the reg is dlm 320j i believe it spent its early life in london and then it was bought by a firm in droitwich from whom i bought it off . imust have been mad that day coz its rough as hell and was worked to death in its later years on a site job . i got it coz its so rare a lot of them were recabbed with s39 and s40 cabs plus they use to have them at pecks when my dad worked there . theres a guy in sandbach who does all the old foden spares and he rekons its the only one left buti cant confirm this . had it about 3yrs now an the cab has just been finished being welded as for the chassis its in such a bad state it may be a cheapr option to mount it on another chassis . i willget the photos on asap . cheers paul

Great photos there bob-lad, have you anymore of the old Manchester firms.?
Do you remember this place Bardsley’s, along side the Mancunian Way in the 70’s. (Their yard was close to where they filmed the opening crash scene for the Life on Mars, TV program.)
