Hi again,Pat …thanks for the prices to cross the Itchen bridge,£25 is a lot of money and IIRC it isn’t that far to go around :frowning:

The driver in the last pic needs to go to “The Harry Gill School of Roping and Sheeting”,I dont think he’d get a start on Bewicks either

Judging from the toll prices, I’m glad I didn’t take a wrong turn over that bridge when I went to Leamouth Wharf yesterday. That’s right, Muckaway went to Southampton Docks :open_mouth: made a change from celelbrities houses

Did you have to “thumb” it back Nathan,I bet you had a tear in your eye as you waved your old motor Bye Bye as it sailed away to Cyprus or Malta!! Well did you? thats the only reason you’d be at S’hampton that I can think of!! Hope you didn’t leave any gear in the cab! the sarnies will be a bit “curled” by the time it gets to the other end!! Hows the little man doing, not be long before he can reach the pedals eh! Cheers Dennis.

Little man’s a bit grumpy (had his 3 jabs yesterday). I went to Southampton for a load of 20mm Golden Flint (that’s what we sell it as, it’s just dredgings to the locals

I saw several MOD Sales low loaders earlier going towards Oxford; It looks like Raf Brize are selling off some oldies. I noticed 2 Leyland Constructor fuel bowsers, Leyland Daf roadsweepers and de icing units plus a couple of general Leyland Daf chassis units. Thought this might be of interest to someone after a military themed project?

I heard the MOD were closing the transport depot at Ashchurch near Tewkesbury.

Could be that instead then, Dave. I’ve heard it’s closing too.

They were going to move it all to the MOD Donnington depot near Telford Nathan.I don’t know if that’s still the plan.
Cheers Dave.

Is that the same stuff as Lydd Gravel Nathan? Iv’e got 10 ton of it round our bungalow, and it wasn’t cheap, there was no ■■■■■’s tarmacing a Motorway in the area at the time so I had to plump for the gravel from 300 mile away!! When you could have whipped up with a load on a Saturday afternoon, for "readies"and brought the missus and son and heir as well!! Cheers Dennis.

If they close Ashchurch there will be some stock looking for good homes. Those sheds were full and so were the outside storage lines.

Our concrete company bought some ex army JCB loading shovels to feed the batching plants when the bins run out; they’re old (probably pushing 20years old) but they’ve been repainted and were cheap and are ideal for probably an hours work per day usually less.

Here you are Marc some more of Chris Hills pics

A long time ago company SCA who had a depot in Southampton

A long load negotiating the top end of Shirley High Street/Tebourba Way by the Blacksmiths Pub Southampton

Thornhill roundabout Southampton you couldn’t tow those scraper boxes on the road like that today!!

Another one of Hill’s of Botley’s lorries along the south coast.

The Guy Invincible “twin steer” tractor coupled to the SCA trailer would most probably have started life as an 8 wheeler.W.Keith’s from Flookburgh cut some 8 wheeler Guy’s down into twin steer tractors which were OK until plating and Testing caught up with them then I think the Air over Hydraulic brakes did for them! I don’t think Guy ever built a twin steer Invincible tractor.Cheers Dennis.

The steer Guy would have been built by Bridge Commercials if you can see the reg no. I will look it up.
Cheersd Rich

There weren’t many of these on our roads! very rarely see anything like this being run by our modern ‘LOGISTICS’ firms, bit too much like fun for your College Graduate Transport Management!
