Hi Carl,
Was it part of W.H. Williams yard that Newsflow operated from ?
I think they only opperated 3 of these Leyland Freighters at the Spennymoor depot around 1986,- 97, running to the Daily Mirror at Manchester to collect papers each night. The wagon & drag in the photo was from their Manchester depot, I only ran to the Spennymoor depot once and remember it being somewhere near a Black & Decker warehouse.

Cheers Bubbs,
There have not been many photos showing the old HGV L plates. In my opinion they should be brought back. That was our Initial DCPC training, out with the old hands on the awkward jobs and learn to do it properly, or do it again until you got it right. If you did, you were given a lorry, if not you stayed as you were.

when i did my c+e a couple of years ago i spent 3 weeks with one of older drivers who was retiring, learning the job and getting my practice in for the driving test, i reckon the old way is the way to go
I had my first lot of driver training during school holidays

What do you reckon HSE and VOSA would make of this?
Did this one miss the the bus
And running back empty
W.H.Williams Spennymoor Two Leyland (BMC) Lairds. When I think of all the beautiful vans we had over the years that were never photographed, why oh why have i been left with this photo, but I surpose they represent one type of vehicle that destroyed the once wonderful British Commercial vehicle manufacturing
