Thanks for those oiltreader, much appreciated,by gum the old Stanton and Staveley MK3 MM brings back some memories as I used to go into their place at Ilkeston with a MK3 tanker for crude benzole out of the coking ovens.Any AEC MK3 and MK5 photos are greatly welcomed.

Great photos. The name Vallance rings a bell, were they from Cornwall carrying china clay powder in like an RMC orange colour? And W F Miners was the forename of Harris and Miners I think.
As for the Rhodesia photo, the cab looks like the Hastings and Deering type that they had in Australia.I wonder if the black lad got to drive or would he be the trailer brake operative,no log sheets over there in them days, just trap on.
hiya,
Well oiltreader you’re sure not letting the side down with the cracking stuff you’re posting I’m with Mr Webb with regards to the AECs keep bringing them on fantastic motors in their day and there wasn’t much that could keep up with them and lots of the larger hauliers swore by them.
thanks harry long retired.
A up chris it looks like christmas has come early for us with all these AEC pikkies
what more would a man want
have a good christmas over in the IOM

Yes, I’ll take a Mk 3 anytime. I had a ride in one of those Scania things a few weeks ago and I didn’t like it one bit. Cab bouncing every which way, some sort of automatic gearbox, terrible thing, I could hardly hear the engine. You’ve got to be able to “feel” what a motor is doing and it should only do it when you tell it to. Automatic gearboxes my arse, give me a Fuller (or a 6 speed AEC) any day.
Who remembers the 2 stick AEC boxes? Harrisons of Dewsbury had some in MM’s
