OilyExcellent photos Oily marra. Many thanks
That PX57 Barclay used to be owned by A W Jenkinson I think. Sure it was a Lockerbie based Scania R Top
Sure you’re sure? I think you’ll find there have never been any Scania Topliners based at Lockerbie.
are p- reg penrith and s- lockerbie jeh
You can tell what depot the Volvos come from PX from Penrith and SJ & SF from Lockerbie but all the Scanias are ■■■■■■■■ registered so you can’t tell where they’re based.
That’s not quite right actually Diff Lock
There is a mixture of S registered and PX registered lorries run by Jenkinsons from Lockerbie
There`s more S registered than PX, but there is PX lorries based out of LockerbieMore Volvos than Scania too
Kindest regards
CGIf you had actually read what I wrote I said all the Scanias were ■■■■■■■■ registered and you can’t tell which depot they come from, I did not say that ALL Lockerbie trucks are SF & SJ registered. I have worked for Alan Jenkinson for 12 years so please don’t try to tell me that I don’t know what I’m talking about, there have never been any Topliners based at Lockerbie, up until the 10 plates came out the depot was 100% Volvo.
Walking around with a camera in your hand making assumptions about what you see is not knowledge it’s called making it up! Something that you seem to do quite a lot.
Hello Diff Lock
Sorry marra, I obviously didn’t read your post right and I apologise for that.
I apologise if I have made you look like an idiot but I think we’d both agree the idiot here is me!
Thankyou also for your further information.
Kindest regards

Hello CG.
Didn’t ?Les Telfer? from around the Wark area have a Forestry Commission contract for many years? Around the 1980’s and before. Ah! also Ralf Nicholson from the same area and time? I realise that they may no longer be with us as Ralf was in his 70’s then and still driving although I believe it was his son on the Forestry work, but don’t see their wagons knocking around these days any ideas on it?
Cheers, Sol.

Yes Les Telfer did haul timber for the F/C, plus old Ralph Nicholson also from the Wark area, I think the pair of them must be retired by now ■■?, Regards Larry.
Googled the pair of them Larry.
Ralph died aged 87 in a nursing home in Hexham after retiring from driving aged 80! after 50+ years in the business. Les Telfer apparently sold up some years ago and moved to Cyprus I believe, and returned home to run the post office in Bellingham. Thanks & Cheers Solly.

I remember Ralphy Having a 6 wheel tipper running out of the quarries Barrasford Mootlaw, This was in the 70s before he got involved in the timber work, Also he had a six wheeler Seddon Aki double drive tractor unit for the timber haulage, RIP Ralph, Regards Larry PS This motor had his initials on the reg. RTN ////?.
Spotted some timber lorries runnin up through the south lakes today, one called “THE TIMBERNATOR” i am sure i have seen the driver in a six wheeler tipper in kendal. And the other was called “THE LOGFATHER”.I am wondering if he runs his volvo on nights hauling COD n spuds for a chipshop up west coast?

Back in the very early seventies (72/73) I think, we bought a 6wheel AEC Marshall tipper from Nicholson’s Wark. IIRC it was a G reg starting PAW or PAM. Sure it was maroon/ red. Would that be the same Ralph Nicholson.
There was also a green F86 eight wheeler flat/livestock waggon used to be in Tyneside mart every Friday with sheep. Think that was Les Telfer’s.
Cheers Tyneside

Hi Larry, Ralph’s initials were RTN and he did work out of those quarries, but can’t remember if his initials were in his reg No when I knew him. Cheers Solly.

Hi Tyneside, Ralph’s wagons were maroon/red for sure, and I’m sure Les Telfer’s wagons were green also. Cheers Solly
