Jimbo truck that 143 is absolutely stunning
I love the quote from the test of the 470, ‘As horsepower continues to spiral upwards, what will Scania do next?’ who would’ve thought that 20yrs later they’d have a 730hp engine
I drove a 470 for a while, IIRC it was G123 SKN, or it may have been G143, it wasn’t as powerful as I thought it would be, I had a 142 Intercooler on the same job prior to that, the 470 was no quicker and it never sounded as good either, the extra room of the Topline was nice though and the 4 bag cab suspension gave the steel sprung 143 as good a ride as the 142 which was on air
Did they do away with the 470 fairly early on as most ones I have seen were 450s and then 500s.
McGoverns from weilsden had 6x4 420 143s with a day cab now that was a rare spec

I think a few people were dissapointed with the 470 and its EDC, as with the new R730 it wouldnt give you all of the ponies all of the time. People were to new to it for remapping, and the 142s and 143 450s were just a fiddle of the fuel pump away from being beasts in every gear.
