I think this one is in semi-retirement, with no modern truck able to fulfill a particular role, as well as this old gadget.

Great pics of the 8 wheeler Contractors “Star down under” :smiley: Out of intrest do you know if anyone kept a record
of how many were converted to 8 wheelers. Remember reading the Leyland works in Melbourne did the original conversions.
It would be intresting to see a list of the ones operated as 8 wheelers.

Not a lot of references to the Scammell S26 on this thread. Did anyone ever drive them? I’d be interested to know how comfortable that C40 cab was and how well the tractor unit version handled. Ro
