My thoughts too, but no different for non routier ones I would have thought.
When the Frenchman told me about La Loge last year he hinted it was insurance and would be rebuilt in the fulness of time.

I’m guessing not in the fulness of my time though.

You may be right. In Vierzon, you still have La Groote, formerly on the N 76 East from Vignoux, and which has moved recently. It is now on the new road to Auxerre, not far from the motorway entrance, and a serious competitor if La Loge was rebuilt.

I of course meant La Grotte!

Ah! A nasty little Renault 4CV. I wrote one off exactly 55 years ago this week. They had a normal H-shift stick but no clutch pedal. The stick activated a ‘traffic clutch’ as soon as you moved it. Then you were off, ready or not!

Here’s a mix of some old pics. no theme,

One of our local lorry restaurants the owner has one, a sporty version in nice condition.
I remember seeing them a lot, In the summer holidays with mum. dad. 3 kids. the dog and loaded with suit cases on the roof, when you actually see one for real you realise just how small they are.

The first pic strikes a chord, I have a 3 wheel van here in the garden, but mine is an Ape, is that one a French make? Fran tried to drop from 2nd to first, across neutral on the handlebar twist grip, missed it and started rolling backwards on our 10% hill, found it and did a wonderful wheely which exited our young next door neighbour no end. After that he would listen out for the distinctive sound coming up the valley and rush out to see the fun again, but she had obeyed her master and stopped at the bottom to engage crawler.

Like the 3rd one of the aircraft too, I note the tail gunner was at the ready in case of trouble.

Nice of the photographer to include the reg number on the flying boat: ML796
RAF to French Navy, to a being a discotheque, and now in Duxford museum.

A semi-retired Berliet GLM 10 6x4, somewhere in a quarry. The tanker on the right could be an Euclid.

Complete rebuilding of a Berliet engine on the road side. One can see new pistons and sleeves on the tarmac.

Here’s the picture!

What a picture Froggy!! Excellent.
When I was in India 10 years ago, I saw a couple of engine rebuilds at the side of the road- not dissimilar to this photo.
